Spring time must be the worst. I think all the dumb young squirrel are out that haven't been sorted out by Darwin. I call them the SSS (Suicide Squirrel Squad). One time I had one run into the front wheel. It flipped him into the air past my face and shoulder. I could feel his fur next to my skin and the little claws trying to grab on to me. Fortunately, he exited over my back and landed safely.

Too funny. I ran over one a few years ago. Tried everything possible to avoid and scare the squirrel but he didn't move. My called me "squirrel killer" thenot shortened to "killer" every time I rode. All as a joke of course. I was just glad I didn't crash that day.

In this morning's race, a squirrel attempted to thread his way through the peloton. A little furry one, not a new Cat 5er, that is. He bounced off one rider's wheel just before I squashed him. It was somewhat disconcerting, but it's not as if it hadn't happened before.
