Brooks Team Professional Saddle Is what I have been using on my road , drop Bar touring bike for 30 years
BROOKS ENGLAND LTD. | ROAD+&+MTB | TEAM+PRO+S+CHROME
other similar would be SI Turbo and SM Rolls , but they are not a stretched hammock of thick leather , of course .
as You observed B 17 is wider to work when you sit up more ... bar top level with the saddle .

class...? not following your line of reasoning. who wears a suit unless they're required to...? weddings, funerals, job interviews are the only time I'll put one of those ghastly things on.
srsly, leather saddles are antiquated and seem like a remnant from the 19th century. if you like that vintage look, that's cool.
I wouldn't use one if you gave it to me.
but, in 2016, they're an almost an anachronism. heavy and ugly are deal-killers for most riders.

It also seems that you really have a hard time understanding that there really are bicycle riders who do not care about saving a few grams of weight.

+ 1. Plus he's ignoring a lot of really serious riders who prefer them; but then what better way to "win" an argument than to dismiss or ignore all the inconvenient facts?

With that I'm going to go get on my 30+ pound bike and go for a ride. And leave my 17 pound one at home. Because my ass likes the B17 Imperial on the 30+ pound bike today.

I just recently installed a B17 N on my Desalvo road bike. I've been riding for over 30 years. Inmo it is one of the best saddles I have ever ridden. We are all different but if it works, it works, regardless of what others think. i had zero problems riding the saddle from right out of the box. I did have to buy a 25mm setback seat post

Question: does the B15 Swallow have the same "cradling or hammocking" as the B17 Narrow, you know, with its platform at the horizontal and the nose pointed slightly upwards???? (EDIT) Does the B15 have the same profile left-to-tight and front-to-back as the B17 Narrow???

One of the most liberating times in a cyclists life is when he (she?) stops worrying about what things weigh...

Do you have any clue how many new Brooks saddles are produced and sold each year? People are buying them and riding them.
Ugly?
As compared to what? Molded nylon and carbon fiber? Lol.
Heavy?
Worried about extra grams on your 17lb race bike?
I feel sorry for you

I have a team pro like fietsbob, a 'conquest' (sprung mtn bike saddle) and one of the bird ones (swallow? sparrow? the less expensive of the 2). The team pro is in retirement at the moment after 11k of my own miles, I passed that bike on to my 14 yr old and he wanted the saddle from his previous bike (veloplush) and I definitely saw no need to subject the team pro to the slings and arrows of the high school bike rack. The bird one is on my winter/abuse bike. I used it, replaced it with a 200g nashbar saddle, broke that, put the brooks back, there it stays. The conquest is fantastic, the bike it is on is all rigid, the spring (very unspringy) is all the suspension I need (plus low pressure tires).
But, the 2 roadbikes I ride the most, no brooks, just modern selle something-or-others. I have done a fair number of centuries on both the team pro and the bird one, and now on these other ones, and I am not finding a huge functional difference for how I ride the road bikes.

I've tried every manner of modern saddle that exists, but I settled on the Brooks B17 Imperial. I ride about 4,500 miles per year and have NO saddle issues. It does look a little out of place on my Madone, but I don't care. Use what's comfortable for you.

I think it'd look great. I'm really liking the look of the Cambium C13 though too - more "road race" look.
