What do you guys think an older gunner roadie with 6500 ultegra should go for these days... I'm in the market for one, someone is offloading my size currently and I am definitely tempted.... frame is in 'good' condition (no dings or rust visible)

I try to minimize the snake sighting claims. If they ever concluded that those really are snakes, they would never get in a natural lake again.

I would think with a massive stream of swimmers moving through the lake, any creature they might be worried about would be much more interested in getting the heck away from the mass of churning water and flailing body parts.

Seriously though, used bike prices are so market-dependent that there's really no way any of us can give you an accurate number. I'd throw out $600-700 as an acceptable range for that bike if the drivetrain is in good shape, but who knows. It's worth as much as someone is willing to pay. |

All the more motivation to swim however hard it takes to stay in a pack if doing an ocean swim... |

You can also just buy it for whatever price he's asking, and then start a thread here on whether it was a good deal.

This is what I sometimes tell them. When they see your arms and legs flailing about they are more concerned with their own safety.

Quick search gave me this- Gunnar Roadie with s s Coupling System Travel Road Bike Size 62cm | eBay It's a weird size, which would reduce the value, but it has travel couplers and campy (!!) which would maybe increase the value, hard to say. Sold for $675. |

Literally no one can do their job correctly today, then they decide to argue with me as if the job they did was correct..
This is what happens when you don't: 1. Have a 4.0 gpa to appeal to competitive corporate jobs 2. Do not have a technical degree 3. Poor parents. Conclusion here is: don't be like me kids. Also: work less, politic more - might save your ass one day. |

True, at least for sharks. Saw a Shark Week thing where they tested and even 2-3 swimmers (dummy swimmers) were ignored by sharks. A single (dummy) swimmer was promptly attacked.

@rpenmanparker I'm n the middle of a 40 mile ride so I'll keep it short. I've got a modest nest egg earns through investments and retired at 54. My house is not what made that possible.
Btw, I live in a very modest home, 1200 sf in a rural community. I've never been a fan of sticking money in real estate for an investment if it's your personal residence. Back to my ride which is a better long term investment in my health than anything. :thumb: |

You'd be more likely to be killed 100x driving to and from the event than getting bitten or eaten by a shark out in open water.

A ballpark way to check other than BBB is go onto Ebay and look for completed listings for that bike. Obviously Ebay prices will be higher than what you'd pay for a local meetup transaction.
