Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Best looking helmet

I'm considering replacing my Giro helmet for aesthetic reasons. When viewed from the front, it bulges too much at the bottom, so as to look perched on top of my head rather than wrapped around it.

So, what's the best looking helmet in your opinion?
Let's say current production models and a budget of £75

It's hard to say, because how "good" a helmet looks depends a lot on the shape of your head. I have a Giro Atmos and I think it looks fine. There are some Kasks that I think look nice, same for Bell. Definitely don't care for anything from Catlike or Poc, but YMMV.

It is really subjective, but I also have the Giro Atmos and like the look of it, though I chose it more for fit, weight and potential protection.

I have a Giro and it doesn't bulge out, but helmets today are getting uglier and uglier.

I say ignore looks as much as you can, and go with what fits well. And every helmet fits differently even within a brand (random example, I like the fit of a Catlike Kompacto but the Whisper does not fit me correctly at all) . I used to just wear just anything until I put a Kask Mojito/Vertigo on my head a few years ago (Similar fit, but the Vertigo is about twice the price and only a hair lighter). I'm beyond happy with my Mojito, though it's a little over your budget. It was a little over mine too.

Also, a helmet's purpose might make a difference. The green egghead above can't be much fun to wear in the summer (though some of those 'aero road' helmets I've tried on have a big vent hidden in the brow that helps), as opposed to the Catlike Whisper I mentioned, which is an awesome summer helmet as far as air flow is concerned. He's wearing a baselayer, which makes me think heat wasn't a big deal that day.

Agreed, fit is more important than appearance...

Nothing wrong with the fit of my current helmet, but no harm in looking good too.

Just checked and it's a giro indicator.

I've sold hundreds of Indicators, they're an excellent helmet for the price, and they fit a huge majority of people. But yeah, if you've got a little money burning a hole in your pocket, go to your local shops (all of them )and try on whatever they have in stock. The upgrades in weight savings, ventilation, strap systems, and padding of a more expensive helmet might be worth it to you.

Best looking and helmet are mutually exclusive concepts. They all make you look like a dweeb

I saw a biker once wearing a POC helmet (below). It actually made me chuckle. That helmet was HUGE!

Having said that, I love my GIRO AIR ATTACK SHIELD.

I like the look of some of the Mavic helmets (eg Cosmic). No idea how these fit though.

I think the question should be rephrased to "Which helmet is the least bad looking?"

I have been thinking about this watching the giro and I think the s-works helmet one of the top teams is wearing looks good. I think it's a prevail? They are wearing the $200 version, but theres a $90 version that has the same shape, can't keep the names straight.

I really like the looks of a the Lazer Helium, I really like the CF assents between the main ribs of the helmet. The MSRP is well over you listed budget but on sale and close outs often have them for just under that. Here is a good deal on them, well under your budget but sizes and colors are limited.
Lazer Helium Road Bike Helmet Small Red/White | Bikewagon

@Dave Cutter , I like those L.G. too

I have a Specialized Tactic II that breaks the sacred "no visor" rule. What matters to me is it was one of the only helmets out of MANY I tried on that actually fit and didn't look extremely awkward on my head.
