Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Max tire size for roubiax frame...

Hey everyone,

I'm looking to pick up a 2016 Roubiax SL4 non disc version. I'd like to be able to put in 30mm wheels(ideally but I'll settle for 28mm) for the winter and run 25s in the summer.

Will the Roubiax frame accommodate this and what's the largest size the new sl4 frames will fit?

You should be alright. The 2012 Tarmac SL4 had issues with the Zipp 303 which was later remedied in subsequent models. I don't think the Roubaix had any issues with wider wheels, though...Unless you are talking tires...Sagan rode 30mm tubs on his Roubaix during Paris-Roubaix, so a 28 clincher might fit the bill for you alright and give you close to a 30mm...My 700c x 23/25mm Specialized Roubaix Armadillo Elites on Mavic Ksyrium SLS rims are at about 27mm wide...

2012 was the SL3 year (I have one) and I have tons of room for 28mm tires on mine (rim brakes). I don't imagine 30mm would be significantly different from 28. Keep in mind different tires on different rims will measure out at different widths but my eyeballs say I still have tons of room on my frame.
