June Report
How was your June? Any particular highlights?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My Totals:
June Cycling Outside: 449.23 km (1549 min)
June Cycling Inside: 185 min
June Walking & Running: 96.47 km (1074 min)
June Stairs: 550 flights (440 min)
June Rowing: 6.4 km (40 min)
June Time Total: 3288 min = 54 hours 48 min
June Distance Total: 552.1 km = 343 miles
More time than last June ... but slightly less distance.
And the highlight would have to be a winter solstice 200K on Saturday 18 June.

Since you asked…Yesterday I posted this highlight to the Fifty-Plus Forum thread, "Small victory for me"!
…Since March 6, through June 4, I have been engaged with a fitness challenge at work. This past week, I rode about 150 miles, via extended commuting routes, and still am in fourth place (of about 40 participants), neck and neck for third place.

You must WIN, Jim. Do whatever it takes ... must win...
Thanks for your encouragement, @Phil_gretz. The Challenge ended on June 4, and I came in third place of about 40 participants, and our team came in first, by a hair-breadth (see graph below; the team standings are at the top from highest upward to lowest, and the top ten individual participants below).
Those standings were released every week, and the competition was very motivating with very beneficial effects. Now that it’s over I am trying to ride at least about 150 miles per week through the summer; 147 miles last week.

My June Cycling Outside (only)Total is 530 miles (830 km)

I rode lots.
Had fun.
No crashes or flats.
Disconnected my bike computer months ago so no data, hence the "had fun" part...

I guess June was good to me, despite a number of days in the triple digits (and therefore not on the bike). I had my fastest times and avg speed doing the usual group ride. Fell behind on commutes, but I'm not overly worried...I'll get back to them when the 4 PM temps are a little more friendly. Still loosing weight - starting to approach the 200 mark. Finally under 205 multiple mornings in a row.
Have a ride up in the mountains tomorrow.

It started well, a couple of nice rides and an adventurous Gran Fondo on my birthday, and things were looking great for a while. Got a respectable finish in a race, did a morning training ride with friends and Chris "Hoppo" Hopkinson, who happened to be in town, and got a couple of KoM on one little weekend ride. Then last weekend, it all came crashing down in a wreck in Central Park.
25 1/2 hours riding
20,400' climbing
376 miles
And that will be it for a while.
