Rode down to the store for a breakfast of hot dogs and donuts earlier.

Think I'll get dressed for a longer ride. Deciding between gravel roads or jeep tracks.

I repack/replace my own BBs. These days most bikes' bottom brackets usually just get replaced and it often only takes a couple of tools (Crank remover and BB cup remover).

That's a pretty short service span! Did it get submerged?

Sometimes not-so-parallel BB shell faces can wreck BB bearings fast, so you might check that also.

I donk't think submerged, but I ride through creeks a lot. But not deep enough where the BB goes under water. But the bike gets wet/muddy a good bit.

Speaking of which, I'm riding a stretch of road/MUP and I see this middle aged couple walking barefoot.

It would be kind of odd seeing that there anytime of year, but especially in January. :foo:

Another oddity: I'm on a divided four-lane road and approaching a stop light coming the other way I see a Toyota pickup truck with a pirate flag posted to the rear bumper.

I cruise through it and about 0.2 miles later said pirate truck passes me. When he gets to the next divide in the median he slows down and makes another U-turn.

wut

I worried that he might be seizing innocent cyclists for ransom, but fortunately I was able to speed away, unharmed.

My daughter, as I was getting this on my shoulder, was whimpering and crying out, Jeez dad, doesn't it hurt? Think of something else I said, not so bad. Then she proudly said, " holy ****, you're 63 and ridiculously cut. She is by far my favorite daughter. JK, luv em all.

Thinking about a nonsensical 'egg nog' carton tattoo. Festive.

How many of y'all do your own BBs? Should I start to tool up to do these myself (assuming it's needed often), or just go to the LBS?

I can only speak for press-fit, but I do it myself. Really it's just a 10mm hex and a set of special pliers for the retaining rings, if you're feelin' fancy.

Gentleman whose house we were at had an Audi S4 in the garage with the entire front end apart. I didn't inquire too much about it, but major kudos if he was taking that thing down and doing all his own work (which is what it damn well looked like).

Note: This is a complete mockery - how did we end up dancing to it, beyond my comprehension.

I did. The possibility of new reading material is always appreciated.
