Advice on new bike - Cube Attain GTC SL or Trek Emonda SL6?
Hi
First post, so hi to everyone!
I've been a casual road cyclist now for about 4 years and really enjoy it! I purchased a trek 1.2 in 2013 and have been steadily increasing my distance; with last year being the most active and enjoyable. I really want to build on that and have entered a couple 100 mile events this year, including the London Revolution 360 degree, 2 day event in May.
I'm now looking at the next bike/upgrade. I am thinking Carbon and think I may have narrowed it down to 2 options. Both the 2016 models, as the sale prices just seem great with up to around 30% off.
I am currently looking at the Cube Attain GTC SL Disc or the Trek Emonda SL6 - There is £500 difference in the price tag though (Trek being more expensive), so wondering if this is really worth it? The Emonda at 1700GBP is really at the very top of my price bracket. The Cube at just over 1200 seems like a bargain price too!
Would anyone have an opinion on either of these bikes?
Cheers

Setting aside the large price difference for a moment, do you want disc brakes?
Personally, I'd take the Cube. Seems like a whole lot of bike at an incredible price.

I'm debating on a 2016 sale Cube Attain SL Disc.
As the guy above have said, its a lot of bike for the price.
Your Cube is full Ultegra 6800s, Hydraulic brakes, DT Swiss wheels....

The Cube is almost 20 pounds advertised while the Trek comes in at under 16.5lbs. While weight is not the whole story that is a big difference. Just something to think about. I do like that the Cube comes with disc brakes and will PROBABLY fit a bigger tire than the Trek. With that said my Emonda swallows a 28c with no problem.

Test ride the emonda sl6 if you haven't already. This thing absolutely levels all hills. I have not put a ton of miles on mine yet but from the short rides I've taken, I can ride this thing forever
Full disclosure - I have owned 5-6 treks in the last few years and have never ridden anything else.

I'm a flatlander and I have the SL6 and opted to save money on the wheels, I went their Aura 5 wheels which are aluminum body and carbon fairing so they are very aero. Can't say how it is on "hills" but I sprint up the few bridges we have and it responds really nice. Of course I went with the Emonda because I'm a longtime Trek customer but I was won over by the LBS chain that offers me exceptional service. If tomorrow they became a BMC dealer I'd be buying BMC from them next time. To me service is more important, the bikes are pretty much all the same these days anyway. Cube must be a Euro bike, never heard of it before though. Good luck and happy riding.

I ended up with the Trek. The dealer I got it from was a Trek only specialist and had a free full blown fitting with them (also got my last bike fitted with them). Customer service was just brilliant and all the replacement components were free of charge.
All I can say though is WOW - WHAT A BIKE.
It's awesome and indeed absolutely destroys hills; I haven't done a massive amount of miles as I have been a bit ill, but I honestly feel like I could be on it for hours without problem (which is good considering training for the 185 miles!)
