Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Terrible, I know.

Oiled the chain, & went out for a ride with some rain, so it's cleaner now.

My recently built 2000 Koga Miyata Full Pro Oval race bike. I built it from a bare frame a generous fellow rider on CL in Seattle practically gave me ($5). It's not finished yet as I'm still searching out some parts, but is currently running 90's era 105 components with 7 speed DT shifters set to friction with a 9 speed SRAM cassette. Ti saddle with DT Swiss Ti skewers on Mavic CXP wheels.

I love the way this bike rides, the frame is a combo of eras - uses Miyata's very light FM1 oval steel tubing, along with lugs, a threaded stem and aluminum fork. The bike is very quick, I climb a lot of steep hills in my rides and it's a pleasure to ride. It's also very solid on fast descents, no squirrely-ness at all. I'm a chicken sh*t on descents so that's a really nice feature.

It's getting a change to dark blue bar tape today. And have you noticed? Apparently Red Bull stole the bike's colors for it's cans, lol.

That's a good looking build. Shame we can't see the crankset.
