The label on the one I have here says, in part ..."Do not leave in enclosed vehicle as rupture may occur due to overheating and may cause injury"
maybe they just did their homework.

Your car is MUCH hotter than most cycling conditions ever will be. Inside car temps in Southern AZ can get over 160 degrees, but I doubt you're ever going to heat the cartridge over 120 degrees unless you leave it in direct sunlight. We carry ours in seat bags and jersey pockets and I haven't heard of anyone exploding yet.
