Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Aero Handblebars

So I just got a new road bike and I want to put some aero handlebars on there. I prefer aluminum instead of carbon but all i can find are carbon. The ones I saw were the ENVE SES carbon aero bars. Really dig the design but I don't want to drop $400 for some bars. My pocket isn't that deep. LOL. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Bontrager makes some. Easton too. I think some of the 3T ones also come in aluminum. Deda has a model too I think. Also Ritchey?
Apart from that, it is all carbon.

I looked at the 3T but all of them are carbon. The Bontrager Race Lite looks nice though.

Damn that look nice but the price. Ouch! $150 for some aluminum bars? Riding a bicycle is expensive.

I know! I was also considering aero dropbars for my new build, but considering the prices I'll probably stick to regular bars.

I've heard good things about the Bontrager, but it is super heavy. I think it's 350g.

Bars should be composite/carbon. Stems should be alloy.

Aero or not, go with those two first.

The FSA Gossamer Wing has a nice shape to it, and a channel for cables along the underside. I liked these ones a lot

Zipp's SL-70 Ergo also has a flat-ish top, but not as pronounced as the FSA

The Deda Superzero Alloy bars are $66.00 at Ribble. If you want a nice carbon bar for a good price, get the ITM Pathom 2 for $113.00.

Just get aero bars man. Dropping low and aero posture gonna make a bigger difference than just a set of aero handlebars. They do look cool though

Ritchey has two alloy aero bars. One is $55, the other $100. Like Doge though I'm in the carbon bar, alloy stem camp.

Like Enve, the Ritchey standard bars are supposed to be really on point in having good compliance without compromising stiffness. I'd assume the carbon aero bars from Ritchey are similar. Dunno about alloy.

Ritchey is great stuff.
Got the https://ritcheylogic.com/wcs-carbon-solostreem which was less than ideal on cable hiding, but got that working.

Also the WCS one piece too. No longer listed.

I'm seriously looking at FSA K-Wing Compact Carbon Handlebar 36cm right now. Hard to find bars so narrow.
