they should be the snuggest fiitting shoes you have. And the most comfortable.
Once you hit that balance, buy them!!

You can get live feedback about whether the shoe fits or not...
Asking us about how "snug" it is... is hard to say... know what I mean?
Yeah, my answer is snug... but.. to what degree..? Let your local LBS help you..
WARNING: Be careful of some LBS's, they'll try and sell you the most ridcols shoes, and especially if you're new to this... don't go buy Colnago's and $300 SIDI's JUST yet..
If you have any questions... feel free to PM me.. Ask as many as you want bikerboy...

thanks guys! i have been biking now for about 3 years with a buddy of mine. A new guy joined our 2 some but he has a lower mid end gient and his clip shoes were so nice when i tried them. The power you get from them is crazy! SO, i need to keep up specially now that im getting a trek 1400 to work on instead of my steel monster!!

My toes go numb about 30 minutes into the ride. I shifted the cleats back about 1/4" so the ball of my foot was further over the pedal axle. This did help some but I think my shoes are too tight, because I can ride sockless and toes feel better. Searching for new shoes now. Hmmm.

Most folks feet are 1/2 to 1 size different so you'll end up compromising regardless. When you try the shoes on stand up so the bones in your feet fully expand. If they feel snug but don't hurt your probably good (as you can loosen the straps mid ride if your feet swell). If they're not snug your foot will probably be sliding around a bit in them once you start riding and you don't want that.
