Looks snazzy but probably a bit steep for almost $1000. I've seen Cannondale CAAD 10 framesets go for around $600 or so used. I'd prolly take that route if I had to replace my frameset. Chinese open mould like the Workswell WB-R-066 look interesting. But I'm not a fan of the BBRight BB that it has. Would select something else with a good old BSA BB on it.

Trek will sell the newer Emonda ALR as a frameset: https://www.trekbikes.com/us/en_US/b.../1426100-2017/

Looking to get into a mid to high-end road frameset in the upcoming year, something light and sporty like the Cannondale SuperSix or Cervelo R3/R5. This will be my own build, likely Di2.
Does Cannondale sell framesets direct or through dealers? They don't list framesets on their website, only completes.
Cervello frames are listed on the website and available through dealers.
Really not interested in Specialized or Trek but I'm sure someone will try to convince me. Do they even sell framesets new? I'm also not interested in used or Chicarb.
Cannondale, Cervelo, Trek, Specialized... who else is out there?

It is funny how everyone just recommends the bike brand they own. As if that is the only option.
I've been loving my BMC, if I got a brand new bike, I would probably get a BMC SLR01 Team machine.
BUT, there are SO MANY good options out there. Also heard good things about:
- Giant TCR
- Orbea Orca
- Canyon bikes in general: Aeroad or Ultimate.
- Ridley Helium
I would probably not get Trek, Cannondale, or Specialized, because they are a dime a dozen.

If it were me I would wait to see what Canyon's price point will be in the US. They are known for being a little cheaper than comparable specs of other brands and they do sell a lot of framesets. I also would like having something that isn't common at the group rides.

Screw Canyon. They have been pulling your chain for how many years? Who cares about this mythical brand?

It's like walking into a parking lot with 500 Honda Accords and trying to pick yours out of the bunch. Why do that? There are other options and they're just as good if not better. Again, there's nothing inherently 'bad' about those brands, I personally, just prefer something with a little more 'personality'.

I own both a Trek and Cannondale, just because I got them second hand for a great price. It just wouldn't be my first choice if I was buying a new bike.

It is not negative, those brands make good bikes. I just don't want to own the same thing everyone else owns. It is just personal preference.

you can get a custom Ti or Steel frame, or go full carbon; they sell the frame or the full bike and you'll be close to unique. Except in Montreal.. there's lots of Marinonis in Montreal
Awesome bikes.

Are you using FSA or SRAM crankset? I think they are the only two that support BBRight without an adaptor, no? Maybe also Rotor and Tune? Also, isn't there 11mm extra on the NDS for BBRight? I don't see how the small spacer would work...
BBright?

Maybe another option is to check out your local frame builders. Some lesser known folks could make a custom frame for you for a little over a grand, no? One benefit is that they might also let you select some of the tube types. I used to know one builder that would mix MTB upper rear stays with a road tubeset to stiffen up the back a bit.

Bikes: Bikes??? Thought this was social media?!?
If i were buying a new high-end frame it would be Ti.
DeSalvo would be near the top of a long list.
DeSalvo Custom Cycles | Hand-built bikes, in Ashland, Oregon
If you want CF look at Calfee for a range of bikes.

Custom available for each. you can probably get a standard frame in your favorite colorways.

How about Alchemy? Handmade in Denver, Co. built the way you want it or off their standard fit measurements. Gorgeous bikes. Allied as well, though I haven't seen one in the flesh yet. They raised some eyebrows at the NAHBS.

What is the point of building up such a frameset?
I can understand it for something more exotic which are often available mainly as framesets. But for common stuff like Cannondale, Cervelo etc with a common groupset like Shimano surely you can get what you want already built.
Their frames are not usually very competitively priced compared to the complete bike either.

building up a Cannondale or Specialized frameset doesn't make sense. Cheaper to just buy the entire bike and replace what you need.

I didn't ask what kind of bike I should buy. I asked what manufacturers I should be looking at.
My car thread is here...Similar thread for gravel bikes...
These were tremendously helpful in the decision making process for what were major purchases.
By the way, Cervelo R5 is at the top of my list.
