Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Have your position checked by a coach or an LBS that has a qualified fitter.

Maybe its my core strength? I have just started doing Cruches for my abs? I am going back to the bike shop to get my bike refitted in a couple of weeks. On the bike I find it is a really long reach to the hoods is this right?

Doesn't sound right. You should be very comfortable on the hoods. On my race bikes that's the *most* confortable position... I can ride on the hoods for 3-4 hours.

I submitted a thread to the 50+ on the very subject you are wanting answers to. Check it out. Their were some very good replys with sound advise. I have since raised my handlebar stem to level with the saddle. I am currently feeling less pain on hard rides. I'm hoping it's progressive healing.
