I currently use a Giro Revel helmet. Was cheap and cheerful at a little over $40. And feels just as good as my old Giro Atmos (albeit probably not as light). I agree with @datlas to try it on. I winged it since I knew Giro would work for me. But I also bought one of those cheap chinese 39 hole helmets on Ebay. It seems rounder rather than oval. So it doesn't seem to sit right on my forehead. So this supports the try before you buy if possible especially if its a different brand.
