datlas I'm one of those rare, or maybe not so rare, people that actually listen to my doctor and try to do what they say or prescribe. I'm amazed at how many friends I have that would rather take advice from their mailman than their GP.

Heck, I'm amazed how many put more faith in BF users' opinions than their GP.

On a similar note, I'm related to a few nurses and have friends with spouses that are nurses and it's amazing how many seem to think their nursing license supersedes my family doctor's.

Anyway, that's my medical rant for the day.

Where there are poles in place it’s much cheaper to do a pole run than to dig. But even at that there aren’t enough inhabitants to make even a pole run profitable.

No pun intended, but I'll pass.

The one that scares me is the drug Ciprofloxacin. I get it prescribed occasionally and one of the first warnings is

"Ciprofloxacin may cause swelling or tearing of a tendon (the fiber that connects bones to muscles in the body), especially in the Achilles' tendon of the heel. This effect may be more likely to occur if you are over 60, if you use steroid medication, or if you have had a kidney, heart, or lung transplant."

Reported.

If that doesn’t merit a ban nothing does.

Same.

If society believes drug sales should be regulated for health reasons, which they are, then why are companies pitching them on TV like potato chips?

I get tons of advice from Dr Google.

At least with Google the patient has made some effort to do research, in contrast to someone getting medical "advice" from a commercial.

Actually, I wish drug advertising to consumers did not exist. It's banned in most countries. I don't like it partly because patients come in asking for drug X because of the advertisement...but really, what bothers me even more is that the FDA regs are such that the advertisements must give warnings of rare but serious side effects, so if I think a patient REALLY NEEDS medicine Y, the patients are often reluctant or scared because of the warnings they heard on TV.

Sigh. Time to retire.

My wife and I comment to one another, “remind me to never take none of that ****”. Lol

I know. That one really scares me. The whole class of quinolone antibiotics. It isn't just one.

Idk. I might prefer a tear of the Achilles tendon to those other things. :D

Just enough rain to chase me into the house. And then it stops. Second time today. I do have to remember to go into town this afternoon though, so maybe it was a good thing.

One of my LKSs (local kitchen stores) has a Zwilling sale going on. Most notably, up to 70% on Staub pieces. Saw a grill pan with steaming lid that I couldn't resist.

Happy Columbus Day Weekend. To those of you who have Monday off, please think of those of us who do not.

Until it gets chipped, then it's handwringing. Ask me how I know.

So what was the significance of Velo Vol's picture?

That would blow. What have you had chip on you? I've got a number (5? 6?) of Le Creuset pieces and never had them chip. My understanding is that one of the primary differences between makers like Le Creuset & Staub and the others is that the quality of the enameling, including the number of layers. I've also heard that these particular manufacturers are very good about giving the benefit of the doubt when if comes to their lifetime warranty (like people admitting, "yeah, my kid knocked it off the counter..." and still having the warranty honored).

Inspired by Dr. Atlas' office wall, I present a shot of my office wall featuring some of my favorite bird photos. I need a bigger wall.

Gonna have to go to yoga on Sunday. Gotta add in yoga once a week I think, calves are tight hips are tight, too much desk work not enough stand / play work.

Maybe the hills in the background are part of the national park where dude got rammed in to by a grumpy old man driving a Volvo.

I really should as well. Probably won't though...

WhyFi 10-06-17 02:40 PM

I need to get in a good ride on Sunday since it's looking like tomorrow is going to be washed out. :notamused:
