Late last week there were fewer places on my commute where I had to get off my bike and drag it over a snow bank. After this latest snow storm that hit this afternoon that will probably be reversed. So yeah, Spring.

In Texas spring begins every other week from December-March. Then it's winter again. Then spring. Then everybody has the respiratory crud from the winter-spring-winter-spring cycle and accumulation of mold spores and pollen.
The first time I ever saw lightning during a snowstorm was in Lubbock one April back in grad school, and every year I was in college there, we had some kind of snow before Thanksgiving. But of course two days later it would be 70 degrees again. :) I don't remember quite so much variation in Dallas, though, (maybe I forget - it's been a long time) and I wonder how variable it is in Houston or the Rio Grande valley.... |

It's been the nicest end of February/start of March since I've been here, but will dip back down a little bit. Unfortunately, the weather changes have been bringing rain, where as the winter was pretty dry and had me riding everyday to work. Oh well, in a couple a weeks hopefully the mornings warm enough to switch from thermal bibs to bibs with leg warmers (already went from softshell jacket to thermal winter jersey and down to one pair of gloves).

Spring arrived here in February. And then ran away and hid...

Bluebird day today.

February was one of the hottest on record here in FL. The trees started pollinating and the flowers blooming. Now it is cooler again. It won't be spring cycling until the young squirrels start running under my wheels. Darwin sorts them out later.

Second Nor'Easter in a week starts tonight. Some people are still without power from the first one that hit last Friday. More heavy, wet snow is forecast for this one starting around noon tomorrow. Last night I charged all my batteries for the headlamp and will make sure my Kindle and phone are fully charged tonight. Got two good sleeping bags to keep me warm if the power goes out. Cook with gas so that won't be a problem, but I would lose hot water.

It's gorgeous and I need to get out of work and enjoy a long ride.

You clearly aren't in Syracuse....
|
It is literally a blizzard outside right now, 4 in of snow and counting with 20 mph winds (gusting up to 40mph) in Milwaukee Wisconsin. I'm so jealous, at least I have Zwift.
|
I'm patiently waiting for spring to arrive. I am also in the Northeast area where we are getting our second noreaster tonight. Luckily we didn't lose power from the first one but we will see what this one from tonight brings.
|
Spring? Is that what all that white stuff is called?
|
No it's not... going to be 51 in Miami Thursday, that's NOT spring
|
It's probably 51 here, I'm wearing a t shirt. There's a giant yellow thing in the sky, blinding to look at.
