Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Ah Ha.

Sunday, (July 7) I went out to race some cars on the 30-40 mph speed limit roads on base. The first car I tried was easy, but it turned off a few seconds after I caught it. After that my efforts were futile. It seems everybody was speeding(not as many cops out on Sunday). After 10-11 attempts I was beat. I had a heart burn, cramps and a whopping headache(Dehydration anybody?). I did a 10 miles easy spin after that and closed the days riding with 20 miles on my bike. I think that the max efforts were good for me though, I don't do that very often.

The cars probably wouldn't have to be speeding by much to really get away. I know that I would have a lot of trouble (and probably failing miserably) trying to catch a car going 65kph on a flat road.
