Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'm a little out of the current market. Are these just rebranded, or what? Their helmets and shoes are Giro rebrands.

Made by Selle Italia, but they do look to be more than just rebrands of existing models. You can see definite similarities to the SLR Superflow though, for example.

Makes a lot of sense. I didn't see the name anywhere on the website. I was actually going to say how much the classic looked like a nicely updated version of the Selle Italia Concor.

I support this corporate decision 100%. Now, no matter what saddle any of us purchase, we can point to the Rapha saddles and say, "It's not like I bought one that expensive or anything."

I built an entire bike for less than the cost of the Pro Team Carbon. That one makes my Selle Anatomica C-Series look like a bargain.

The key selling point of the Classic Rapha saddle is that they've been precisely designed with curves/shaping etc that match with their Classic II Bib shorts. OTOH the Pro Team saddle is meant to be the perfect partner for the Pro Team bib shorts. It's a system.

Next up, Rapha will be coming out with helmets that work optimally with their cycling caps, and handlebars that fit the contours of their gloves' padding.

I guess I win since I got a carbon SLR Superflow for under $200 and it works quite well with the Pro Team Bib shorts.

Pretty soon Rapha will be selling riders to match the bike...

Don't tell me you guys are surprised by this.

They already sell Rapha branded Giro helmets, Fizik bar tape and Apidura bikepacking bags.

Rebranding happens all the time.

But when will Walmart start selling Rapha stuff? That's the real question.

You need to be honest with yourself. You're living a lie. The pro team saddle is required to achieve ultimate bliss. This is the only thing missing in your life. Until Rapha makes the next thing...

Pretty sure this thread is pointless after the Bike Snobs blog yesterday.. his comment about how "apparently Rapha is now pairing saddles and shorts like some overbearing ass-sommelier" pretty much wins....

Tiny sweedish fingers built into each saddle to gently sooth you while on more arduous rides.

Now that they own Niner, they are working on incorporating the Niner product line first.
