Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Any deals on Speedplay pedals?

The Roubaix Pro should be here early next week...just wondering if there are any good deals to be had on Speedplay pedals anywhere.

TIA

Performance Bike has descent prices on the Speedplay pedals. But use the current 20% off code and it makes it a good deal.

PerformanceBike.com <https://www.hot-deals.org/relocate.cgi?www.performancebike.com> - 20% off, code: 6001202

There are numerous good deals on Speedplay pedals on eBay. My son recently bought a set of zeros there. I love them, I have them on all three of my bikes.

Many of the Speedplays that I've been watching on Ebay have:
  1. been used
  2. not included cleats ($39.95 for new zero cleats)
  3. gone for almost what Performance sells them for after coupons
My new shoes came yesterday, how come nobody has the X-5 on clearance this weekend?

I am ready to buy the Xs, I don't know much about either of them. Why do you like zeros better?

I'm going with the zeros because they've made improvements to known problems with the X-type.

Zeros allow adjusting float independently for heel in and heel out. The cleats are very compact and (in my experience) wear well. If you are the least bit pigeon toed or duck footed, the zeros can adjust for that. Very easy to get out of. I am an older git and don't have the range of motion that I would like. My frogs are great for around town (commuter) but really have too much float for me and give me hot spots after about 70-75mi. The zeros are the charm for me.

I love this, I had a tendency to smack my heel on the cranks. Now it's adjusted so I only have heel out float.

The answer has been given above. Also, I just like the way the cleats on the zeros are constructed versus the way they are constructed on the X's. My girlfriend runs X's, and I run three pairs of Zeros on my three bikes.
