Bibs--male or female?
I know I am going to get a lot of hassle for this post, but here I go. I committed the unpardonable sin and purchased bike clothing off of the internet. The bibs and the jersey were quite cheap. When I got them I noticed that the kit was a lot pinker than I anticipated. The bibs and the jersey looked red on the web. I also have noticed that the chamois does this awkward thing of placing my berries on the right side, which not only creates an interesting sight but also is uncomfortable. The jersey zips up the opposite side of what I expected. So I started to wonder if they had sent me women's clothing. I looked at the tags and there was no indication of either male or female. I went back to the web site and noted something I didn't note when I bought them. The ad said Men's and women's bib shorts. Is it possible that they make a uni-sex short and jersey? The latter I don't care so much about. But the bibs are not that comfortable. My original conclusion was that the chamois is just a cheap version. Any thoughts?

My thought: You bought cheap stuff off the Internet and got precisely what you ordered and paid for.

Three bills on one thread?
FWIW, cycling jerseys often have reverse zip from the expected side for men in North America. I have no idea about the bibs, but let me tell you, I'm done buying random cycling clothes online. For $40 you can get bibs from theblackbibs.com and they're great.

I am one* also so my 2 cents. Unless I could alter them or arrange things, I would be reluctant to wear the bibs. Even cheap or from random internet sources, you still reasonably expect a product to be fit for the nominal purpose. I would explore exchanging or refund.

As my name is also Bill, I want to offer a simple remedial suggestion: Sex change surgery.

Another Bill checking in. Is there some reason that you can't return the stuff? Regardless as to whether or not they sent you the wrong gender specific articles, the stuff doesn't meet your expectations.

Buying bibs on the internet isn't a big deal if you stick to known brands and vendors which allow free returns.

I dislike returning clothing that has been worn (presumably on the bike, and hopefully laundered).
We also have a society where retail prices on return shipping can be prohibitively high. Of course, getting even a little money back is better than having stuff sitting around that is unusable.
I haven't been using bibs, but I'm not sure I can recognize the difference between Men's and Women's shorts or padded tights.

Backcountry and Competitive never charge for return shipping. They will even ship multiple sizes to try on and only charge for what's kept.
Some Rapha gear comes with a 30 day ride and return, no questions asked return policy. I wouln't hesitate to take advantage of it if a garment didn't meet my needs or expectations.
Buy from Performance or REI and have the garment shipped to the store for free. Try it on in the store and if it isn't what you want then walk to the register and return it.
It isn't a big deal.

Hey, I'm a Bill too.
That's pretty much par for the course as far as buying stuff from China is concerned. Probably not worthwhile to return it as shipping might cost as much as the items themselves. You took a chance and it didn't pan out. I've bought stuff from China, some of which are great. Others not so great, but I'm fine with that.
Okay, I'm not Bill.

Nonetheless, I was in need of a new BIB so I ordered one and mentioned you (well, your profile here) has a referral.

And... Competitive had a sale on Castelli bibs a while back. I missed it so went on the website and started a chat. Told the guy I missed the sale. No problem I can get that sale price anyway. Cool beans.

Don't buy cycling kit off the internet? No LBS around her sells Assos and that's what fits me best. I've been buying Assos kit from Competitive Cyclist and the Assos Discount site for the past 10 years. Works for me.

And uh, my profile has a what now, where?* I shouldn't have a referral anywhere, I don't think; I certainly don't have a relationship with them (other than buying a few bibs and pestering them into making a long sleeve summer jersey!).

Cheap cycling crap, that you bought on the internet without first trying it on, doesn't fit?
That's a surprise.

You bought some pink spandex off the internet and are worried whether or not its men's or women's?
