I have been riding a 2001 Titanium Litepeed Vortex (full DuraAce) ever since and thought about trying a full carbon bike. So I picked up a new 2005 Fuji Team Issue frame set and gathered all of the components mostly from ebay for a build which will be my project this winter. It set me back $800 for the frame set (including fork and headset) and about $750 for the components mostly new. I have several wheelsets and most probably will pair it up with my set of Ksyrium SLs. I expect the build to be just under 16lbs. Hoping for a good ride on this bike come spring.

Specs are.
DuraAce 7800 shifters and brake
DuraAce 7800 front and rear derailuers
DuraAce CS 12-23 cassette and chain
FSA Pro Carbon Elite Compact Crankset
FSA Pro ISIS TI bottom bracket
Fizik Aliante saddle

Yep, here's my stable. My TT bike is soon going to be powdercoated Silver to match the theme and get my OCP points. As for climbing, it's sad at best. I'm more of a sprinter. The smaller one is my little brothers' that stays here and the other two are mine.



And thanks for the heads up on the frame Toshi. I have ridden this before and do love it. I can't wait to get it done for next season.

I started riding in July on a borrowed 80's Fuji Sagres. I just picked up an '06 Fuji Roubaix yesterday. I got to ride it a little yesterday to dial it in. Can't wait for the weather to let up a little so that I can put some miles in.

Judging from this picture, this is a really low-profile, unspectacular bike. Low-end yes,
but most would be surprised how well and amazingly fast not to mention robust
this one is, from 2003. A Cro-Moly/steel bike rides like no other...I have aluminum
bikes, and I feel the lesser weight, but it's not a factor at all, in enjoying the ride,
IMO.

Regarding the 07 Fuji Cross Comp, what attracts my attention are the "Avid Shorty 4.0 Cantilever
brakes... I'd like to know their rationale for putting cantilevers, when they've been using caliper brakes,
which work amazingly well on my fuji.

The cantilevers traditionally were used on MTB and old hybrids.....it has a lot of potential, yet ...
I love what's on my current bike. The worst brakes, in my view, are the V-brakes (Linear Pull) ...I feel
they have no real stopping power, are tough in the need to have the wheels perfectly trued to
get real adherence.

You're right......FUJI brands have no snob appeal, unlike Lemond, Guru,
Litespeed, etc.

Regarding bikes that are $2,000+ .....it's unfortunate that all dealers in a large city like
Toronto, Vancouver or Montreal have no $$$ to invest in stocking these bikes ON PREMISES
and only allow CATALOG-ORDERS .....you can't even see how the well the brakes do, the design,
the components chosen, and overall feel of it all.

It would not surprise me, if 90% of dealers North-America wide are really thin on FUJI inventory
that are not kid bikes, below $400.

However, the dealer where I obtained a Nevada v1 MTB told me that they were selling
FUJI Tahoe MTB (having Deore shifters/derailleurs, Aluminum frame, mechanical disk brakes front
and back, etc.) like hotcakes, all catalog orders on-site, without even having a single demo
bike on site.

My 2000 Specialized Allez Sport with 105 just died so I bought a 2006 Fuji Roubaix RC (carbon stays, Ultegra). I got a great deal on it because its a year-end closeout. I can't wait to go for my first ride!

Since this is a Fuji thread...I bought this bike from a friend a few years ago, but have no idea which frame it is. I'm guessing it's from the mid- to late-90s, but it has no model name on it. My friend built it up with parts he had laying around - some Shimano 600, some 105, a Sachs FD, Dura-Ace headset, old Mavic MA2 wheelset.

Saddly the team SL is hardly super light at 1300g for the frame(fork is pretty light at 350g) but as a package my 05 SL with sram rival and race wheels is right at 15lbs with heavy egg beater quattros. I am hoping to add this little jem to my collection in another month or so, with my zipps on it should come in at the high 13lb mark:

I rode a newest 05' (I think) for a few months. Shimano Sora, aluminum. It was entry level... but a very good one. Sold it!

Yeah, but in 2002, when the SL first came around, it was 15.8lbs STOCK. That was probably unheard of at that pricepoint. Even up through 05 which was the last year for the Aluminum SL, it was 15lbs(with Ultegra) which is still very respectable. I've got it with Record derailleurs and Chorus shifters, a 1410 gram wheelset and soon to get a 1350g set of carbon tubulars. Any way you slice it a sub 15lbs bike is still damn light for any amateur.
