I agree, reduced friction and better chain angle, but it’s not 2k worth of improvement...as stated marginal. Better wheels would be a far better ROI.

But what about the weight penalty? It seems that getting the larger diameter pulleys up to speed would sap some acceleration! Remember, no mass is more important than rotating mass!

I think the larger pulley wheels are designed to provide less extreme chain angles. So the theory is the chain is more efficient as it rotates through the rear derailleur. The longer arm on the system is supposed to do the same thing for the rear cog....less extreme angle. The wheel in this case (printed in titanium and hollow) is supposed to be lighter, and of course the ceramic bearings are super smooth.
