Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

bontagers come thru

Lots of negative comments on bontragers lately. I ride 04 race lites. 220 lbs. I don't know how they compare to race x and racexx lites but mine haven't been a problem. Last night we are pace lining at 24 miles per hour when I hit a pot hole that swollows the front wheel. I honest to god heard an explosion. Thought the carbon fiber blew up in some way. Both water bottles instantly ejected. Anyway, I had pumped the front tire up to 140lbs before the ride. No pinch flat, no broken spokes, wheel or bike. Could not believe the unit would take such a hit with no damage.

Bikes: Surly Karate Monkey commuter build

Most of the complaints seem to be the eyelets on the rim cracking... and spokes breaking.

I've had 3 sets of Bontys and a set of Rolfs. I've never had a durability issue with any of them.
