Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bikes: A trek

I used to carry a lezyne mini pump until I realized I was pumping like 400 times to barely reach 90 psi. So I figured if I fail with my co2... I'll have my cellphone as a backup instead. Didn't carry it since... I think I would still carry it if I was commuting to work by bike though. But just as a backup to co2.

Co2 fail is why I carry a pump as of this winter.

A bit curious.. your photo looks more like the Carbon Drive Lite than the Road Drive. But Lezyne's site indicates the "Lite" is a "NEW" model, though reviews on it's product info page date from 2013, and it's heavier (80g) than the non-Lite version..?

How is that all of the other brands that have hoses, haven't figured this out and have the exit out the end of the pump? Or, all of the other pumps with side-exiting air, don't have hoses (so can't reach a valve from the ground), and just the rigid clamp-on?

There's also the Lezyne Micro Floor Drive:

My touring/winter bike has a rear rack and trunk bag that can easily hold the Floor Drive, so I've been carrying one in there for years.
I've had to use it a few times, and it works like a charm.

Mine is indeed the Road Drive. I can't recall seeing the Lite version on their website when I shopped.

It looks like the Road Drive is rated to 160 PSI and the Lite Drive is rated to 120 PSI.

My choice was partially based on the August 2018 article at outdoorgearlab.com. They actually test everything they review. The site seems unbiased and thorough.

The Road Drive was an Editor's Choice. Carbon version for style points.

This is mine. Don't know the brand just has Specialized on it. It's big but weighs less than two bottles and never runs out of air...

I have used a Zefal frame pump for many years, but new carbon fiber frame rules it out. Picked up a Fabric Nanobar mini pump and failed to test it before it was needed...Another wrinkle is the valve extenders for my wheels. Anyone have experience using a mini pump on valve extenders?

Both mini pumps I have (2 different Brands) take easily over 300 pumps to get to 100PSI.

My old Zefal frame pump ,about 25 to 30.
