Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Just picked up my new bike, a Litespeed Liege..

The guy I bought it from has serious OCD.. Every one of his bikes looked brand new like they had never been ridden before..

The bike has some nice parts that I was not expecting.. Team Issue DA Cranks and Chris King headset and Litespeed stem.. The mavic Cosmic wheels were a big plus also.. I'll be hitting the road tomorrow and look for me on the Santa ana river trail this weekend..

Any guesses on how much it cost me?

I'm so glad I waited, I almost went out and bought a Felt Carbon...

You have to understand this bike looks like new, so when I went to pick it up, I was going to try and talk him down a little on the price..

After seeing the condition and all the little extras, I paid him asking price.

$1800.00 Cash price...

Christ, what a price... and I'm going to go retail all the way pretty soon on a new bike. It hurts, I tell you, it hurts.

I'll post more pics tomorrow when I can take them outside in the sun..

I was so fortunate.. The bike fit perfectly, it had 175 cranks which is my size and the stem is the perfect length.. It was one of those rare cycling moments when the stars aligned and I knew this was my bike..

What a piece of junk. To make you feel better about getting ripped off, I'll take it off your hands. I'm local so I could drop by and pick it up ...

Awesome bike. Sounds like she's hardly been ridden. Welcome to the Ti club. Enjoy your new ride ... you lucky dog!

Nice bike! That bike I will recognize if I see it on the river trail. I saw a rider on a Merckx maybe a month ago. Four of us were coming back from a ride to the pier and a guy on a Merckx was doing intervals or something all around us then got off on 1st St in Santa Ana, made us crazy. Was that you???

No it wasn't me.. I don't do intervals on the river trail.. If it was a Motorola Merckx w/ a tall rider it just might be me sometime in the future.. Wait scratch that I will be riding my new Litespeed..

I'm really not sure is it was a Motorola Merckx, just that it was a Merckx, but he was a big guy. I was at the front of our pace line and we were all just dieing when this guy comes by us and became our rabbit for the next five miles or so, we would pass him, he would pass us and so on it went until he pulled off. It turned out to be one of our better Friday afternoon rides ever though.

That is a beautiful bike and I’ll keep an eye out for it!
