Living in droughtland, the media goes nuts every time there is a chance of rain. It actually rained a little bit last night, but not the mother of all storms like they made it sound like.

I hate riding a road bike in the rain. I've done it a little, not like some of you, but I've been soaked and shivered and had to clean crusty bikes. Today was not one of those days but I still avoided going with the road club because they were heading up a canyon for 25 miles and I didn't want to be up there and ride back down in the rain.

Instead I took the mountain bike to a fire road network and it was glorious. I got sprinkled on a little bit but it was not muddy, just the right amount of moisture to make the ground tacky and the traction good. Best of all, no cars.
There is a short road ride tomorrow that I might do.

How's that working out, so far so good?

My numbers and scans are stable. I get tested quarterly. My oncologist said we’d ride this train (Eligard) until the wheels fell off. I asked how long these tracks were back in September and she said another year or year and a half and then she’ll reassess my treatments as I guess there a lot of options available.

I did Innsbruck again today, 1880 ft climbing, set a new pr. Got a group ride in the a.m. should be fun.

I hope you don’t need it, but if you have any recurrence they will probably give you Xtandi. It’s a good treatment but $$$$ so make sure you have Medicare part D coverage.

A bunch of people I know are doing a “recovery/social” Zwift ride and companion Zoom tomorrow. I signed up for it. Since I ride topless, I will not activate my camera for the Zoom conference. Audio is enough.

I am really surprised that Zwift did not install a voice chat module. It makes group rides more interesting. We usually chat on Discord but tomorrow’s leader prefers Zoom for unknown reasons.

I have metastasis in my lymph system, primarily between my aorta and my spine just above the Y. They haven’t shrunk but they haven’t grown, either. To be honest, I don’t worry much about it anymore.

Truth. Besides being just short of 70, I’ve been getting Eligard injections for the last year and a half.

That’ll do it.

I had an training buddy, back in my running and swimming days, who went on leupride. Aside from it maybe saving his life, he went from crusty, rigid, and asocial, to really sweet for a year or two.

The real story is that a maple tree fell on it.

I have no evidence to the contrary.

I attempted a fat bike ride this afternoon, but my trails were too snowed in. So, I took a short snowshoe walk instead.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I picked up a table saw the other week. :o It's just a little one, though.

I have a healthy fear of the TS and the router, though the new router table seems SO smooth and powerful that it's... well, there's no drama. Oh, and you might like this - I made a coping sled last week for doing things like door panel rails. It's got an acrylic guide for riding along the fence and getting nice, square cuts. Works a friggin' treat. Not bad for some scrap 3/4 ply, a few bucks worth of hardware and one pretty decent clamp.

Grats on the TS! and coping sled looks friggin awesome. Sometimes, I like thinking and working on the jigs so much that it can become a rabbit hole for me.

BTW, what brand is the router table? Since we used the have the same table, I’m guessing sooner or later, I’ll be looking to either make my own or get a better one :innocent:

Doh, way to many 8s in the post. That was supposed to be “#8 jointer plane”.

id like to try discord for some of the rides, but the garage gets spotty wireless so much so that phone usually drops off on the companion app, I’m ascared that if I put discord on top of Zwift, the whole thing may go kaboom.

Oh, the struggle is real. Just today, my son asked me about what I was building in the basement... "well, I'm mostly building stuff *for* the shop so that I can more easily build other stuff *in* the shop... but I'm not actually building other stuff yet... BUT SOON!"

The table top is an Incra and it includes a router mounting plate (you specify the drilling pattern for your router of choice). The mounting plate is *serious* business - 1/4" thick machined aluminum and the steel reducing rings (it includes 3, more available separately) are held in place by strong (but not too strong) magnets. To go this route, though, your router has to have a decent lift/plunge mechanism, which is why I chose the Triton. The fence is a SawStop that I believe was made by JessEm. There's not a lot of info on the fence, so I actually posted a fairly thorough review on the WWing forums. Very good BFTB, IMHO.

I have never chatted on Zwift, although people have tried to chat with me. I use my phone to run the game because, unlike my iPad, it’s the same format as the monitor I use, so I can’t run the companion app.
