Ikr, I don't get the mentality of wanting everyone to do it because I do. I like that its a little bit odd to the majority of people.

I can't count the number of times I've just been rolling along somewhere and find myself giving a big sigh of satisfaction, but it sure would be diminished if I had to dodge around even more people. In fact, this summer at the height of the COVID Bike Boom, some segments of my ride that I normally really enjoy were a lot less enjoyable because of having to dodge around clumps of slower cyclists.

Had a pretty rough crash this morning. Car pulled out enfront of me but it just happened to be intersection I needed to make a left turn so I had already started slowing. Not sure if I hit the brake again or what. Saw the car and the next thing I know I was on the ground and I was no longer attached to the bike.
Looks like my elbow and left hood took most of fall. Knocked my left hood a little crooked and my elbow and hand are starting to hurt. Destroyed my toe covers not that they were really working anyways. Somehow my chain got knocked into my wheel. I was worried the hanger was bent but shifting seems to be ok. Only other thing that i have noticed so far is my front brake is rubbing and sporadically. I took the wheel off and checked to make sure everything was tight and put it back on. I thought it was good and then randomly it started rubbing. This was on my bike stand and without me touching anything but spinning the wheel. Just picked up new shoes and booties. |

I wish more here did it. So motorists would be more accustomed to seeing bicycles on the road.

Went over my bike again and got the brake to stop rubbing. Other than my hand feeling like it’s sprained and a gnarley bruise on my leg I think I am okay. Wife and I went on a nice 10 mile ride. She’s getting more comfortable and looks like a natural so pretty stoked. Thanks for the wishes glad it’s not worse.

I tend to avoid MUPs anyway, but if I'm coming/going from certain directions, there are a few stretches of MUP that make sense. The increased traffic this year made me avoid even those stretches much of the time, though, favoring residential streets even if there were stop signs every two or three intersections.

Glad you’re okay. Any words with the driver?
He/she didn’t stay. It honestly happened so fast I don’t think I would have said anything. I was more concerned with my bike. And once I realized the rear wheel wasn’t spinning I was getting really worried. Pain didn’t set in to a few mins later. |
