Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Mistake???

I picked up first road bike and computer today. I got the Trek Incite 8i wireless for my LeMond Etape, $25 for the computer. I have looked around on here and haven't seen anyone using it. Is this computer OK or should I take it back and get something else. It seemed to do fine on my ride today?!

It oughta do you fine. Never heard of it, but a computer's basically a computer, so you should be set. And an upgrade later on is no big deal.

How's that Etape treatin' ya?

I had seen them from the Trek website but haven't seen any "talk" of them on here. I love the bike, had to wait till I was on vacation to pick it up. Couldn't find my size anywhere near home, but it has been worth the wait so far...1 day.

Congrats on the new ride from a fellow LeMond rider. I have the incite 9i....wired, and I have no complaints at all. Yours should do just fine for you. I am looking to upgarde to something with cadence and will probably go with the Incite 11i...$35 from my LBS

I just purchased the incite 11i after a planet bike computer broke. Overall, I really like it. It has cadence and rear wheel speed sensor, similar to the Cateye Astrale 8. Plus, it has a temp guage (not that handy) and a pace arrow, which is great. I like to be able to see my pace, speed, and cadence all at once.
