Have my first century Sunday. Wish me luck!
I've been trying to get mentally focused on my first (imperial) century this Sunday (24 July). It's an organized ride, so I'm trying to think of it as to my advantage: five short rides in a row instead of one 100 mile ride.
I'm pretty sure I'm up for it, I was hoping for some BF love to help me stay sane
Drink water. Turn the cranks. Nibble on a Clif bar. Turn the cranks. Drink water. Turn the cranks....

Relax and enjoy it. Eat enough, and drink enough. I find the Clif shots to be a little easier to digest - might bring a few of them.

I know doing a supported century will help, but I'm riding solo, which is the uncomfortable part. I'm thinking the trick is to find a groupetto turning a little slower than my 'short ride' pace, and hang in. Sound like a good gameplan?

Doing it yourself can be a lot of fun, especially if there are a lot of other riders. Chances of hooking up with a group capable of motivating and pushing you beyond your normal capabilities - even for just a short while - are quite good. You may learn some new things about yourself during these moments.
Good luck.

I'm doing my first metric century this weekend. I'll think of you on my ride if you think of me on yours. It'll be like we're riding partners even though we're 700 miles apart!! hehe
Seriously, good luck. Bring enough water, it's going to be hot out there.

Good luck superdex. I'll cross my fingers for some nice weather this weekend. Your plan sounds good. Take advantage of the rest stops. And be sure you post back here Monday to let us know how it turned out.

Thanks all, I'm feeling good about it. Yeah my fingers are crossed for at least some respite from the humidity. Blech. I will report back on Monday, and at the request of another BFer (and in proper OCPdom), I'll post pics....

Definitely hook up with a group -- it just eats up the miles. Have a good time.
