Felt F55 or F65?
So, I was in looking at a F55 the other day. Damnit that is a sexy bike. But being that it's the end of the season, they didn't have one in my size. They do have an F65 though. Although cheaper, and it being my first road bike, there is some sense in that, but god damn the F55 is sexy. Any other F65 owners out there who are happy with their bike? I'm sure the F65 is a good bike, but the plain blue just isn't quite as "god damn that's hot looking!" as the F55.
Maybe I should look at some other brands. The only thing is, bang for buck wise, it seems you get more from Felt. For example, I saw the Trek 2100 is in the same price range, but comes with all 105 components instead of Ultegra.. and actually it's about 300 more than the F65.
Damnit why do roadbikes have to be so beautiful!

you have a dirty mouth. cursing won't make your choice any easier, goddamit!
buddy of mine has an F60. seems like a decent bike. probably comes down to your own preference. if the hot chick is more appealing than the sensible chick, then take the hot one.

Well other than the color the main difference is the drivetrain. DA10 vs Ultegra 10. Do you need the DA10... in short no, ultegra is going to be just fine. Now if you want that color then you have to pay the 550 dollar difference.
BTW the F65 and the 2100 are not even in the same ballpark, compare the 2300 and the F65 because they have the same drivetrains (except the crankset) as the 2300. BTW the 2100 is only 1350 as most LBS went to "low" retail on their pricing a few months ago.
I have never riden a felt so I can not tell you how they ride. If you want a real cheep Ult10 bike look at the motocane that is floating around, something like 1100 dollars...

There are folks that are steadfast on "bike fit"... well, while geometry is vital, there is another part of fit that is equally as vital - the passion. Buy the bike you love... and only buy the bike you love. You will ride it more often, longer distances, with more vigor, and with a greater appreciation.

I'm in the same boat. Looking at a Felt F65 because the local LBS's do not have any F60's in stock. One LBS had the F65 in my size. I will be test riding this weekend. I guess the only difference is the F65 is a double and the F60 a triple. Since I won't be attacking the Alpe D'huez I guess I don't really require a triple anyway. Good luck.

the 2005 F55 and F65 (as well as F60 and F70) are the same exact frame. The price difference is in components. Wheels and gruppos differ, accounting for the cost.
I ride an F65 and love it. It's my first road bike and I wanted the F55, too, for it's looks, but in the long run I am VERY happy I saved $500 by getting the F65, especially realizing my where my skills are and the riding I do.
As for looks, as someone once pointed out on the forum, you really don't see the bike when you're riding it, so aesthetics at that point are really moot. Fit and feel are paramount....

I did exhuastive long term research, which included tons of test rides from several lbs and settled on the F65, I was about to buy it, when a friend of mine found an F55 on sale in my size. I got lucky and was able to save $300 on the 55 so it made my choice easier, but when I was looking at retail prices I was dead set on the 65. Felt is offering unparralleled quality for the price. Cheers

I got an F65 a couple months ago and I'm pretty happy with it. This was also my first road bike. I'd say go with the F65 unless you can get a killer deal on the F55. You can always take the money you saved and put it towards some upgrade. I'd imagine that the Ultegra -> DA won't make much of a difference but new pedals or wheels might be worth it.

I was in the exact opposite situation. I needed a 54cm frame. I found the the F55 in a 54cm and the F65 in a 56cm. Th lbsy got in a F65 in the correct size but someone beat me to it. My lbs(whom I would nominate for lbs of the year) cut me a sweet deal on the F55. I any extremely satisfied. You need to ride either one and see if it fits you and suits your needs. That is more improtant than price, componemts, exotic materials and/or bling.
All that being said, while it may be superficial, I am glad I got the F55 because of its paint. If I am investing 1.5k-2.k on anything I want it to look good as well. The f65 was by all means a great looking bike, the f55 just did it for me and while you probably don't need it, it is DA to boot.

Just purchased a Felt F65 from my local LBS. The test ride sold me. I've been riding a Nishiki Comp III from 1990 so I can't wait to get out there and get some miles. A big plus for me was the F65 was discounted to $999.00 and the sales guy threw in some shimano pedals as well. I'll post later after I get some miles on it.
