Naylor is strong too. |
thanks
it looks like Crowe and Stobie dominate most races |
I saw Guy Green at the Baw Baw classic a few years ago - when it snowed. I only know him to say g'day to, but I always reckoned he was a nice bloke. He said he'd driven up there during the week after work to check the course out! :) Pretty keen sort of thing to do, as between Noojee and the mountain would be 50km of the windiest, narrowest, most wombat and wallaby infested bit of road in Victoria.
I know Geoff Thompson really well. He's a diesel and wins a few vets races. Don't do turns over him or have him go over you in the group as he's one of those blokes that sprints over the top of you when he does a turn. Half the bunch will abuse him and he'll ignore it. Besides that particular nasty habit, he's a good guy! |

How was Symmond's wicket. Bloody twinkle-toes must've been in daydream land. Moved slower than the umpires do

Back in my day if a calf locked up in a sprint we'd just reach down there 'n rip it clean orf, and tuck it into a jersey pocket so as ma could stich it back on when we got home. |

you've found me terrible secret. I am made out of toilet paper.
|
Kotter ain't waterproof! If it's pissin' down, I'll be there to at least see who shows up. Anything less, and I'm going riding. If you can't make it, that's cool. My Cannondale gets packed last, so there's always next weekend.
The missus beckons. Cheers. |

they don't have different coloured numbers, so each grade wears a different coloured headband around their helmet. Kinda dickie :) |

I saw the Overcoming doco yesterday folks.
Worth checking out, gives a good insight into the CSC team. And Riis has a physically, very big head :D they made one mistake, said NZer's and Australians were involved in CSC. Dean left for Credit Agricole in 2004, and Sunderland and Roberts did not join until 2005. The film encompassed the 2004 season. |
bumping this fellas, todays the day. If I have to pick one, Gene Bates or Simon Gerrans :D. I never did get beyond kindergarten

Who will wear the aesthetically most awful jersey in the peloton, especially when white shorts are teamed with the jersey. Here is a wrap. my favourites for 2006. Gerrans Walker Crake, Bates Brooks Kemps Mclachlan Outsiders Davis Cooke I doubt these riders will go into the red to win. Bigger things await in te one day races on the continent Mcewen, think he will be marked, and require Gates, Sanderson and Evans to do dirty work to keep him in contention. It seemed he was holding a bit in reserve at the bay crits. His hamstring is progressing well. He should be looking at San Remo, not Adelaide hills. Ogrady Roberts, not sure if they will be riding, or in a CSC camp somewhere in the m.East, N. Africa. Actually Roberts is here and riding, but OG si not I think. Might be Europe training camp. Mcgee, will be doing shorter efforts for 400ip Commonwealth Games. Won't go into the red. Karl Menzies is a show, he might struggle with the length and parcours. Might. Matt White. Could win. Depends on his preparation. Doubt he will be on the tour squad for Disco, more likely riding a spring classics/Vuelta campaign. So he could be in form at this stage. Won't be riding the TDU, not sure what influence this is the week before. Matt Wilson. Might. is always on song for nationals. He came about 13th in San Remo in 2002, so the man has the legs for the classics. Evans. Nope. Vogels, nup Gates. outsider. Oneil. mark him down for the tt. Rogers, don't thinnk he will be riding. Nor Davis bother Scott. Lancaster Brown. Won't handle the parcours. Hayman. Outside chance. Will be peaking for the classics. Dawson, nope. Roberts, nope Day, outside chance, may win tt. Van Hout, same, may win tt. Milostic, put him down for a bridesmaid in the tt. making up the numbers, Chadwick, Glennan, McPartland, Sweet, Hopkins, Gono, H Clarke, T Wilson, Hutchinson, Woolridge, England, Renshaw, Sulzberger, Betts, Humbert, Mann, Under 23 Clarke simon. good chance, aggressive at bay crits, Johnno Clarke. maybe. The climbing might see him off v the others Sanderson, nope. Sulzberger, outside chance Goss, outside chance Meadley, maybe Sutton, maybe Hatton, chance. Rex, nope. Lowe, doubt he will ride. Hatton, chance. Walker, yep. Jamieson. nope. Lloyd. decent chance. Ben Johnson. could be, if he makes the cut of date. Actually I think his pro status disqualifies him. Agritubel this year. Kemps, disqualified as a pro. Lee, nup |
Also Luke roberts was on a Ciombola tt machine, which is made by the Trak cycles guy in Melbourne. They have a shop at Southland and one other, but I think the custom's are a different selling practice.IE no need for retail forum.
Wonder if he has his CSC machines in Europe and or he had to give em back, or he prefers the Ciombola. Anyone no anything about these steeds? |
Sorry I missed the ride fellas but a 4am start from here was always going to be a big ask for me and as I race (sailboat) Satdyarvo I would have needed be home by 10am which made it pretty much an impossibility. I would have loved to hook up with y'all. :(
We"ll have to organise something around the C/Coast which would be more doable 4 me. Best of luck Expat., (repat), Maybe next visit. Berny |
Well the rain held off and a cruise round Newy was enjoyed by all, including a stop at Jocks uncles cafe!

Did a new name get decided on for Expat? Was Brother Pat ever looked at seeing as he is off to Mormon territory?
Just got back from my own farewell Expat ride. A 2 1/2 hour MTB ride starting with a 900m vertical slog (7.9km 4WD track) up Mt Te Aroha, then a quick descent followed by some fun single track and then coffees and an enormous plate of bacon and eggs. I hope you enjoyed it as much as Team KOK (King of the Kaimais) did Brother Pat. |
Given his taste in food, what about Mex-pat?
or as a big LA fan ;) Tex-Mex-pat |
Russel Van Hout won the road race

Thank you all that showed up. Our crowd of 300+ shamed that little tea party they call the Hell Ride.
[edit] Berny, no worries. 62Vette, it was a good ride, even though the beach lacked eye-candy. Banana Boy, no new names, thank you. Certainly nothing Mormon or Mexican anyway. |
25 Brendan Brooks (NSW) - related to Choco ?
