Carbon frames, caution on workstand??
Is using a workstand clamp on a carbon frame (rather than the usual seatpost) a total no-no? I clamp to my frame on my current steel frame about half the time but I have a feeling that would not be wise on a CF frame. Is this true?

Very true. You should always clamp to the seatpost with any material frame.

I clamp on my CF seatpost. According to this thread, I'm committing a no-no, but so far, so good.

Since there are so many carbon framed bikes with carbon posts clamp the post. Easier to replace a post than a frame.
If you were to do it properly you would get a quill clamp attachment for the workstand. It uses a quill that is inserted into the down tube similar to the old road stems.

How do you like it?
How stable?
Any downsides to this "euro" style?
Appears it collapses like a camera tripod. Lighter than older models as 3 feet more stable than 2.
Would be light and compact enough to keep in car.
Park stand I currently have is traditional spring loaded clamp which is too tight a grip for brittle/thin carbon and alloy. It is similar to following model (about 10 years old). Very heavy. Does not collapse. Does not fit in car. Can't remember the part #, and am not at home to look.
Tarmac has down sloping odd shaped top tube. Does not lend itself to use in clamp style workstand above.

If you have a work stand, you should have one of these:

Luckily i have an old Minoura (sp?) travelish work stand. Nothing clamps to anything on it. No problems.
