Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cannondale R1000????

I'm looking at a used 2003 Cannondale R1000 to replace my ancient C'dale. The bike is equipped w/ Ultegra and Mavic Kryseilum wheels. Was purchased new last fall and has about 2000 miles on it. Overall, in very good shape. I've not ridden many newer bikes. Any thoughts on this model? Any ideas on a fair price?

I have an 04 R2000 which also came with Ultegra 9 speed and Ksyrium SSL's. It's a very good bike. The price is dependent on which type of Ksyriums that come with it. Would be worth less with the Elites. I would guess that $1,500 is fair if with the SSL's and in good shape but Im not an expert. It's a quick bike and not terribly harsh for an aluminum bike. I have been well pleased with mine.

I have an 04 R1000 and paid $17-1800, can't remember exactly. It's the Optimo frame with Ksyriums Elites. I'd say $13-1400 for a good deal, IMO.

nice bike, but I'd lowball it more--start at $1k and stop at $1,200

bikes depreciate like computers, you should be able to get it for a LOT less

good luck

I believe the 2005 R1000 comes with ksyrium elites and goes for about 2100 it is the newer caad 8 frame though. 1500.00 sounds decent to me depending what shape the frame is in (any dings) also have to add in the extras if the person selling the bike is leaving the pedals, bottle cages etc.
