Is this bike worth $450?
I've been looking for a good used road bike to get started on and found this bike in the local classifieds.
2001 Trek 2000, original price $1100. Brand new cog set, chain, rear wheel, and center ring (total price of new components $260). Aluminum frame. Shimano derailleur, relatively new Bontrager tires. Black, red, and silver. All maintenance done by LBS. asking $450 I don't know much about bikes, so is this bike worth it? Thanks

I would lean on saying yes. If it fits you and meets your needs. However I am always a bit sceptical about commenting on a bike sight unseen.
Also, I can't remember if Trek guarantees their frame only to the original owner or reguardless of who owns the bike. That might make a difference. Trek has a lifetime frame warranty so you could be very safe on the frame.
Do you know how many miles it has on it? By replacing those components it could have a few.
