The normal view in my Take-a-look glasses mount mirror is of my shoulder, but it only takes a few degrees twist of my head to see the traffic in either the lane behind me, the lane to my left or the lane to my right. I would rather ride without the helmet than without the mirror. I also use the mirrors when driving my wife's car.

I use to be a mirror advocate in the past. And I still have this type mirror. While it works fine and it's less Fredly than other types it's just gives me chills when I am thinking what could happen in case of a accident! Long, sharp wire with a glass attached to it?

I've made a habit to look over my shoulder and keep my ears open.

The wire is very soft and flexible.
4 riders were killed when this tractor ran over all 10 riders in the group.

Would that hurt much more than a wire in your eye?

Thank you 10 Wheels, you have been very supportive in posting comments about the MessengerMirror.

Thought rider injury is possible due to bumping it or in an accident, I haven't come close to pushing it towards my face, it pivots. As others state here, I use it in conjunction with head turns.

Posted here for those interested its its design to copy (or follow signature link).

Do a search for "Italilan Road Bike Mirror". I've been using one about 9 months and really like it.

Another vote for this. It's like the "roadie" mirror, but not quite as big and dorky looking, IMO.

The only downside is that it's not as easily adjustable.

This thing looks interesting, though it's probably too Fredly for most.

I'm all for mirrors, but your story is lacking details here. How are we to know that a mirror would have prevented that? Scare tactics like this don't help.
