crazy that these people get away with this? does eBay monitor this stuff? i mean check out complete trek bikes on eBay and there is a bunch of "questionable" contact me outside of eBay stuff listed. ?? i wonder if they are hijacked or just sold accounts. you know, you build up positive feedback then sell the ID to some fraud. later.

When I was bike shopping, I checked eBay a lot for comparison prices. I was reporting about 20 of these fraudulent auctions a day, just for Madones. Searching on WSD or Allez would pull up quite a few, also. I'm sure just as many scam auctions are still there, but since I'm not shopping anymore I don't run into them. You won't run into them just browsing the road bike section of eBay, either--they put them in weird places, like vintage postcards or ladies' lingerie. Search pulls them up.
If eBay really cared about fighting fraud, you'd think they'd develop a filter to find and pull auctions incorporating email addresses in the item description, which is how most of these work. Get the mark out of eBay and into wiring money directly through WU or a scam escrow service.
