Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What a pain to shave in the spring if you've haven't touched them all winter ... it takes forever ! Just a quick run with the razor once or twice a week during ski season is no big deal. Doesn't anybody here live where you NEED to grease up the legs in spring to keep them warm ?

it never occurred to me that there's an off-season? what makes the season "off"? Are you guys in areas where it snows regularly? Don't tell me that just because it's cold you spend the winter on a trainer?

I got sick of shaving mine awhile ago - mine are pretty hairy and grow fast, so after 2 days or so, it would start looking funny unless I shaved.

Alright...should start a new poll....how many guys DON'T shave their legs....

I dont hardly shave my beard let alone my legs. If i was in cali then i probably would but here in ohio guys with shaved legs = strange looks. Not a huge number of cyclists here in my area. Not that it matter much i dont ware shorts i just ware plain old street cloths i might get me some baggys next season ad a jersey. My current pants are starting to cramp up my calves now that im getting back in shape. I can def tell the diffrence im in better shape now than when i started but depending on the pants i ware if they are to tight around the legs i start to tire alot faster than i looser fitting pants. So its time for shorts enxt season i would say.

I voted yes, it's turned into an obsessive compulsive thing now. Do my arms, underams, legs, chest, stomach, and unmentionables.

The arms, chest, and underarms I only use the clippers on the closest setting. If I spent any longer shaving I wouldn't get anything done.

Nothing worse to see than pale, hairy legs stuffed into bike shorts.

Off-season???

I know lots of younger cyclists (teen - 40+) shave.
Now for the question of the hour, "Who's the oldest shaver?"

I did it, once, during x-country season. South Texas heat and a summer of training in it will drive a man to do ANYTHING to make it better. Yeah, it helps your legs cool faster, it's easier to clean off the mud (cycling translation: road rash), and it does...accentuate....certain benifits to your training regime. But the effort just wasn't worth it. The rewards did not outweigh the time spent shaving to get them.

That little expirement ended before it ever really begun.
