How long did it actually take the BF members who rode the metric together to finish it? Just wondering if we finished before or after you.

A friend and I finished at 1:30pm. Four hours riding and and hour hosing around at the rest stops. Brownies are good. No pie, though.

Nice ride on Sunday. I served as a "safety rider" and took some group photos of the BF group. My friend HigherGround told me you were coming so the CB Bike club planned a sunny day but forgot to ask for light winds. We were glad to have you and hope you can join us next year. Next year we will plan on no flooding(whihc casued some detours in '04, and no wind(except blowing uphill).

Next year, I'll be there....I'm putting it on my calendar NOW, along with the Lancaster ride. I was so bummed about having to miss you guys!
But...I have to say...I had to help with a local harvest festival that had gotten rained out the weekend before. I was a cow wrangler. Yes, it's true. Granted, they were calves...only a few weeks old...but my job was to keep them up and moving so they could properly participate in Cow Bingo (more on that later if anyone's really interested haha). Anyway, the point is...I was outside all afternoon in the wind, thinking about how beautiful it was...and secretly glad I wasn't out there riding in that wind!
Miss you all, but I feel better now that I've seen Mirona's shaved leg. Very nice.

Thanks very much to CBBC and everyone else involved, it was my first organized ride and it was a great experience. I plan on coming back next year. As for the BF members, you make me feel better about finishing in just over 4 hours with all three stops(which I thought was slow ) but when you're riding with a Naval Academy grad and a kid who's going to West Point next year, you tend to get things done as fast as possible. I'm riding an unsupported metric next weekend that will be at a more leisurely, enjoy the scenery type pace. I'm glad everyone had a good time, hopefully I can try to meet up with some of you at another ride sometime. I have some start/finish pics of my group, so I'll add them just for fun. I'm the guy in the Cofidis Atmos with knee warmers on holding the Flyte. Yes, my hair looks ridiculous, but long hair+cycling hat+helmet=unstylish to say the least. Oh well.

Welcome to the fun house, Bob! We expect you to regularly throw your $.02 in. And, dacarzi, it was great to chat with you pre-ride. Your club throws a fun do!
Beth, you lead the most interesting life. "Cow bingo?" Sure, I'll bite. I especially want to know about your techniques for keeping the cows content and cooperative. You are a woman of MANY talents.

You asked for it...
Cow bingo is actually cow PIE bingo...a bingo grid drawn on a fenced-in court...a couple of well-fed calves...people buy a number for $5. each, and....
Wherever the cow pie falls, the owner of that number wins the 50/50
Seriously, I'm not kidding...the winner won $65.00, and $65.00 went to the charity.
How did I keep them "content and cooperative"? Well, I fed them from a bottle (they were only 1 and 3 weeks old)...and when they decided to lay down and snooze, I grabbed 'em and hauled them back up to their feet. Where cows are concerned, contended is the easy part; cooperative is just not gonna happen. At least these were smaller than me.
And while I had a blast seeing lots of local folks I know, waiting for calves to poop is really a pretty slow, undynamic process. Lots of time to sit and gab. I'll see if I can get a picture...

I imagine that given enough time and lack of other things to do, one could devise a similar game using port-a-johns at a century's lunch stop.

Awwwwwww, Bibi!!!! Nothing personal, I promise....honestly, I expected these critters to be a tad more rambunctious than they were. They were just too young...I was ready to feed them the freshly churned apple cider from the stand next to me, just to get the show on the road, so to speak
Now you know why my favorite jersey has cows all over it...which I guess further compromises my OCP points.
I really did miss all of you...
