Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Looks like they are selling 4 very expensive tires that are attached to 4 very broken wheels.

Last week while looking for jerseys I found a guy with an ebay store...

5,900+ positive feedback
two, literally only two negative feedback. I bookmarked it:

With that many transactions, there are *always* bound to be
some idiots who will have a problem with something, it's just the
actual items themselves i don't get..

Go through and read the feedback. That guy obviously deals with a lot of crappy items and thus has to deal with a lot of crappy Ebayers who expect to receive an antique in mint condition when they paid $0.99 for it. One guy bought about 10 items, left positive feedback for all but one because (and I paraphrase) "this frame is a piece of junk. I wouldn't hang it on my wall." Wow.

This is a bargain basement liquidation outfit--as accurately reflected in the seller's name.

Obviously selling to people who don't understand that "you get what you pay for" and were expecting something else.

I only wondered long enough to read their FAQ/Buyer Beware notices that are plastered all over their 11000+ listings.

There's a whole lot on Ebay. Some awesome deals, like my new (to me) 1 season old skis for $300 (delivered) that sell for $800 in shops on sale. And a lot of crap like copper bird baths and bamboo picture frames. It's like an online garage sale but you've got to know what to search for and know what it's really worth unless you won't be happy. Too bad the feedback system depends on the users having a clue.

I love his description:

"Please note that this item may have some damage to the Rim which appears to be Ben tin some place, also Hardware may be missing . As with all liquidation products this is sold 'as is' and what you see in the photo is what you are bidding on."

Yea... just a little bending... i just looks like a taco, s'all...

Yeah, I got a kick out of that gross understatement as well.

Of course, if you know what you're looking at, do your own work, and got them cheap enough, for some people, there may be parts worth salvaging--tires, tubes, spokes, and it may be possible to true at least one of the wheels...

A friend of mine has built an entire e-bay business by repairing junk he bought off e-bay, and at rummage sales... He quit his day job long ago.

The seller claims to be "#5" on ebay, but I think he means he's the fifth worst seller. I don't think he's being criticized unfairly, because most people are hesitant to ever leave negative feedback, regardless of how badly they were ripped off. Selfishly, they deem it better to protect themselves from the inevitable retaliation than to raise a red flag for others. One look at this seller's feedback comments bears this out. Many of the buyers who left positive or neutral responses felt they were ripped off.

Someone with only an 88% feedback rating should be avoided at all costs.

The people complaining bought junk from a seller who basically says "I don't know what I'm selling. You are buying this assuming all responsibility for it." Read the auctions. That's the message I get at least. The seller even states that most likely, if you leave negative feedback for them then you will receive negative feedback in return. I don't blame them. If a seller claims no responsibility for an item and the buyer then complains about the item, it's not the seller's fault.
