Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Got some speedplay stainless zero pedals for $150.00 and the specialized comp road shoes for $90.00 (regularly $120.00).
All in all I think it was a good deal.

Calm down craign04, your pure gonzo investigative journailism has skipped a groove. He bought his road bike within the last two weeks according to his posts about it. I like reading about new cyclists experiences and attitudes, yeah I'm a masochist, so what?

He then decided (wisely IMO) to commute through Brooklyn & NYC on his new (april 05) Spoogilized Hardtail or whathaveyou. Save the sweet ride for pleasure and sport riding, a beater for the ride to work and no need to bring it up to the office if yah got the right lock. Right tool for the right job and all that. Keeps this up he'll be carless for life, man after my own heart.

So he's switching between this entry level MTB and a mid-level stiletto. What'd you think would happen, unless he'd had a chance to do some true MTB riding it was almost inevitable that he'd want that smooth as silk feel on his commute. The answer? A less expensive perhaps used,..you guessed it, a road bike.

Guy pays full retail pop, cut him slack on not knowing the price ranges. He's looking to trade a not too used '05 for an '03 that don't need to be pretty. How much would you pay for an entry level allez with 2 years use on it? I wouldn't pay $350.00 for an '03 with sora or maybe it was tiagra on it.

and really.....a 6 month investment comprised of 590 misleading posts to score a long con with a net of $300.00 (in merchandise that drops in value as soon as it leaves the store)

For his sake I hope he's not a con

At least you seem like you got some common sense.

Heh, no. I'd expect you to ask us what kind of bike is the best one for running over dogs before you did anything like that.
