If it's staged (which it looks like), then they're idiots.

Why would they risk damaging their bikes (and I'm sure some damage had been done to the bikes) and damaging their bodies and messing up a race just to make a funny video.

Have you ever seen "TV"? People will do ANYTHING for money and to be on TV. Might be stunt people and bikes used for such things. Of course it might not be staged, it's just that some of it looks planned and not very well acted out...kind of stiff.
