Nice...and damn you. I've had my Alanera and Record shifters for a year and have contemplated putting them on just for fun a thousand times over.

Way to rub it in.

Any thought of putting those bars on Trinity? Is the stem the right length for him/her?

55/Rad

Patriot 12-06-05 12:59 PM

I thought about it, but they are a bit heavier than the USE bars on Trinity, and I kind of want to keep Trinity as my weight-weenie bike. They are also 44cm, one size wider than before. I thought I would try a slightly wider bar to see how they feel. So far, they seem fine, though not yet on the bike.

As for rubbing it in. Well, I am planning on having the bike painted and riding by Spring. You know, Spring.... 2006. ;)

BillyD 12-06-05 01:14 PM

What, another bike??

Obsessive-Compulsive at it's worst!

Hey Patriot, are you willing to reveal your paint plans? What color?

I think I remember you mentioning you had a plan ready.

Patriot 12-06-05 03:47 PM

Only the few who are priviledged, shall know of my plans.

hehehe.

Not too shabby, if I do say so myself.

Well, after wiping the slobber off my desk I'll just say this bike is going to be something special (love the bars and shifters). Can't wait to see it completed. Congrats and Happy birthday. :D

clfjmpr44 12-06-05 04:01 PM

I'll ask a completely original question...who makes the frame? :D

55/Rad 12-06-05 04:01 PM

What???? Is it Patriot's birthday AGAIN? Seems like we did this last month.

Geez the time flies by.

Looks pretty sweet. What bars are those? How is the design for the paint coming, settle on anything yet?

ImprezaDrvr 12-06-05 04:38 PM

Dammit, man, who made the frame?!?!?!

Patriot 12-06-05 04:52 PM

OK, OK!!!!

This is where the frames are made. Right here in Kennewick WA.

HERE WE GO!!!

If y'all thought the old Centurion was my only project, you thought wrong. :D The carbon forks are sanded, ready to paint. The frame is taped off, and a base coat of white and yellow-gold is applied.

The Fast Attack is slowly resurfacing. ;)

Just ask 55/Rad how many drawings, sketches and ideas I went through before I finally got what I wanted. He gave me lots of great insight, and some good ideas for making it turn out the way I wanted it too. For those of you wondering. I spent weeks trying to come up with the design I wanted. I wanted to keep some Ti bare, yet create a theme for what I wanted to honor and project.

So, after a few days of painting, I now have the Navy Blue panels and Gold pinstriping complete. The taping is removed, and some touch-ups have been made. She's now ready for decals and clear coating. Hopefully I will get some clear coat for this weekend. Spring is coming, and I need to get this girl done. I want to put it through the ringer, and see how it performs.

The last pic of the forks is outside in the sun. The blue is a little nicer than it shows. For some reason, the camera didn't show off the blue as beautiful as it really is.

A year and and a half ago I celebrated age 30 withmy first road bike which has inspired me thru thousands of miles and the loss of around 40 lbs.

I expect 35 will be a good time to give the bike some more company :).

Happy Birthday Patriot!!!

Somehow I sense Trinity will be jealous over these developments. Not that it's a bad thing. ;) I'm gonna go paint my Litespeed now. :D

DXchulo 02-08-06 06:06 PM

Wow Patriot....truly original. I love what you did with the fork.

Just tell your better half that life is for living, and that you're not getting younger. Also, tell her that if you can have the cool bike stuff, you promise not to ask for a car later. My wife found that logic appealing.

The only problem is what you'll do when you turn 40....

55/Rad 02-08-06 06:18 PM

Looking good my friend - and I have no doubt she'll be done before the Tete.

You know, you are going to have to bring her to Portland, along with Trinity, for some "proper" photography. ;)

Patriot 02-08-06 06:24 PM

I will be getting a rack for the Toyota, and I am thinking I may just get a two bike rack. Simple and easy to use. So, one bike for each of us.

Trinity may have to stay home. Especially if the Fast Attack Ti hunter turns out to be as good as it appears to be. I really like the panelling of the paint job. Better than lots of weird fading with an airbrush.

alxra 02-08-06 07:45 PM

Wait 'til you turn 37. God, I feel like I'm 38.

BillyD 02-08-06 08:48 PM

Handsome paint job there, fella.

Navy and gold is a really nice color scheme, one of my favorites.

cuda2k 02-08-06 09:52 PM

Looks fantastic. Blues do seem to be one of those colors that are hard to photo properly. I can tell the frame looks better than the photos show, I'd love to see some higher res photos of the job. Can't wait to see it completed.

Here's an update on the Ti machine. Aside of the fact that I am thwe worlds worst photographer, here's some pics. Just don't ever ask me to try and get a clear photo of bigfoot.

Today I had a mental meltdown. I shot a coat of clear on the frame, and the volume knob on my spray guun was wide open for some reason (kids), so I ended up with a bunch of runs on the top tube, but I will sand them out and shoot another coat next week.

Anyway, this is basically it. The frame is pretty much done with exception to a final coat of clear, and buffing/polishing.

55/Rad 03-21-06 03:35 PM

Is your room green or is that a product of the photography?

psuaero 03-21-06 03:57 PM

This was your original inspiration right? Great looking paint... can't wait to see it all put together outside in the sun.

I've had one constant midlife crises since I was 11.

You're not accepted into the Middle Ager Club Patriot. If you were truly middle aged the bike would have "Seven" or "Serrotta" or "One Off Custom Made by Bavarian Craftsman" on the downtube, you would have flown out to the factory to have Hans spend a week discussing EXACTLY what you wanted from the bike, measuring your fit, and having Hilda fondle your nether regions whilst fitting you for a seat upholstered in some endangered species.

Face it, you're a middle aged wannabe :)

Patriot 03-21-06 04:21 PM

Ok, so it's midlife crisis on a budget.

55/Rad,

Yes, the room is green. It's my picture taking skills in general which lack a serious level of proficiency.
