Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Polar Wearlink or T31 transmitter?

I need to buy a new Polar HRM transmitter. My HRM came with the T31 transmitter. It is comfortable and cheaper than the Wearlink. However, the Wearlink batteries are replaceable. When the T31 runs out, it is dead. The Wearlink is more economical and ecological in the long run, but is it as comfortable than the T31? What do you think? Thanks.

I've never tried the T31... but I don't see how it could be any more comfortable than the WearLink.... Most of the time, I forget I am even wearing the Wearlink... This is on 4-6 hour rides....

Wearlink is definitely more comfortable. However you do not have to moisten the electrodes on the T31. I have both... I seem to have better luck getting a signal with the T31.

Hmm... did not know about the T31, this might be a plus... Moistening is the only aspect that I don't like; however, I thought all the transmitters had to be wet.....

I have had my T31 for over a year now with no problems. Both of my wearlinks are at Polar now being fixed. I really liked the fit of the Wearlink better but it is not as durable at least not in my experience.

I like the wearlink. I have not had any problems with it and it is very comfortable. All transmitters must be moist to work. The T31 is getting moist from the skin where the Wearlink is fabric. It will get moist eventually, it just helps to put some water on it before you put it on.

Not necessary with the T31. It will give you an accurate reading bone dry.
