Well, seeing that my Bridgestone is out of commission until I replace/build a rear wheel. I'll probably do that in January, I'm thinking a paint job will be good, a few chip/surface rust areas I want to take care of. I'm thinking the top tube red. The seat tube yellow. The down tube black and the head tube white. The fork and rear triangle all one color, I'm thinking a royal blue. I'm going for: Red, yellow, black and white, they are all precious in His sight. By the way, I'm not a member of the OCP, so I don't mind that kind of coloring. Besides, I'm not a big fan of the current baby blue/grey/white combination with "Synergy" all over the frame. What do you think?

I'm thinking keep it factory or as close to it as you can, right down to replica decals.

thats not true rad. If there is someone out there who wants to custom paint a bike and save it without the temptation of riding it, then your painter is the man with the plan.

I just finished a repaint of a frame myself (See the 'Barracuda Mk.I link in sig). Preperation is the key to a good finished product. Though no self paintjob - unless you have access to automotive paints or simular) are going to be near as tough as the original. One popular and cost effective plan is powder coating. Much more durable than rattlecans from what I've read and fairly inexpensive. I ended up sinking probably $60 into my rattle can paintjob and that's not including the decals I had made. Painting bicycle frames with a spray can creates a lot of over spray - probably a good 2/3 of the paint you spray never hits the frame. I ended up using 2 cans of primer, 2 and a half of color, and 2 of clear. Figure an average of $6 a can for the paint (I used Duipli-Color found in Automotive stores and the auto section of wallymart) and it adds up. Add in the sandpaper (stripping, primer prep, after primer sanding, final sanding grits) and it adds up.
Oh, and the 4 different colors is only going to add to the complexity of masking and painting of the color coats. If you go for it, send me a PM and I'll try to lend a bit more advise if you want it.

I strayed from the original somewhat on my RB-1 paint job, but kept it influenced by different year models of Bridgestone and Rivendell bikes. Airglow Bicycle Painting in Washington, GA did mine. Ronny made templates from original decals and painted the decals on the bike - nice! They use pictures of my bike on their website.

I'm thinking downtube shifters, keep the original brakes, and switch it over to Ultegra 9 Sp comaptible so I can swap wheels with my other bikes.
I'm debating the paint. It's burgundy / reddish now, and has some scratches.
Nice bikes here, all.

How about your same burgandy color but add another color panel to it, maybe white? or a creamy colored panel might be nice. separated by a contrasting colored pin stripe or two. ?
Hmmm. Mine's a '90 or '91.
Burgundy, no panels, white Bridgstone graphics.
Synergy on the top tube near the front of the bike.
I'll shoot pics of the nekkid frame when I get a chance.

Wow, I forgot I made this thread long ago--it's been revived! Anyway, Sheldon Brown has a listing of scanned Bridgestone catalogues on his site if you want to see the original coloring of your bike or find what year yours is.

My 1990 RB-T also had a "synergy" decal.
Last year I had it repainted with single color brown enamel. No decals at all. It has a Jen Green (my local bicycle jeweler!) custom sterling silver B-stone "B" headbadge. I really need to post pictures of that . . .
