Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Jessica loves her Lemond, and her next bike will probably be one. Good value!

Bikes: 1992 Schwinn Paramount

I've made a fixed-gear out of a 2000-2001 Lemond Zurich. I absolutely love the feel of the frame and the geometry. Sure, it could be a bit twitchier, but it's comfortable and light enough for what I use it for.

I'll put a pic up today.

Bikes: 2009 Spooky (cracked frame), 2006 Curtlo, 2002 Lemond (current race bike) Zurich, 1987 Serotta Colorado, 1986 Cannondale for commuting, a 1984 Cannondale on loan to my son

I just bought a 2002 Zurich, slapped on some old Shimano 600 pedals with toes clips, and took it out for its first test ride today (about 40 miles). I've got to move the seat back a little and drop the bars a little lower and it will fit me very nicely as I have a very long torso for my height. This bike is an amazing upgrade from my mid-80's Cannondale, but most any modern bike would be. I am very impressed with the stiffness of the bottom bracket on such a thin-walled steel frame. I'll post pix after I get different pedals on it and dial it in a bit better - probably later this week.

I have a Lemond and love it. Great value and classic looks. Also fits my body. I have not had the first problem out of mine. I would love to buy something else, but I just cant justify it when this bike is all I need.

Lemond had made in regards to Lance, it just made me limp to the idea of owning one. Not that I'm a huge Lance fan, I just felt like here's an ex American champ (Lemond) perpetuating really negative press against a current American champ (Armstrong). Seems to me that Americans need all the cohesion we can muster in the world cycling arena (sure, not that Armstrong and Landis aren't at odds). When I originally read it I couldn't figure out Lemond's M.O. except to smear.
If I've got that wrong, will someone please steer me in the right direction? I'd like to have that warm fuzzy feeling about Lemonds again.

I love my 2002 Zurich! Everything about it. However, I must admit that I do lust after the carbon/steel cockpit of the newer models. Some day...

I loved my Y2K Zurich, after I found a shorter quill stem that provided some extra rise (but, the quality of the paint was pretty bad). If I'd kept every bike that I once had that I was particulary fond of, I think the Lemond would be among about two out of six bikes, not including mtbs and my current road bike which is the best yet.

My '02 Poprad makes a nice commuter bike. I bought it as a frame-only and built it up from a mix of part It's got a supple ride but, being a 'cross bike with Armadillo tires on it, it 's not a good choice for a fast club ride.

Very nice Rad. I have a Yakima with the steelhead bike rack. I never got the wind deflector though. Still have the rack but now I use a Thule setup on my Pickup. So simple and easy.....

You won't be dissapointed. I have had one since April. Put 4900 miles on it and have never touched anything except to clean the chain and do one adjustment on the shifting after about 500 miles or so.
