Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Got my first Cannondale Monday for $70; a mint '90 ST400.

Right after she came home:

and ready for a good shakedown tomorrow...(yeah, wrong side, blah, blah, flip it, valve stems, blah). She'll get her fenders and rack back as she'll be my full-time commuter rig. Needed 'em removed for some cleaning, which I have yet to do. Really enjoyed the quick spin before I bought it; so I'm looking forward to tomorrow!

I'm gonna try and sell newish (obviously used, but extremely well taken care of) 105 triple 9spd front and rear Ds and a triple Sora FD and a 9spd Tiagra RD... and hopefully a little more used Ultegra 9spd RD all 500 series (4500/5500/6500) to try and cover some cost for a 10spd FD and RD...

If I can accomplish that - then I'll swap out my grotesque SS and use DA ST-7800 and have a real bike again.

I got this a few years back and I still love it, now with an aeros on it. This thing fits me perfectly. Just finished my first Ironman in it last fall in Madison.

I had the shop throw mine on the scale after installing my Shimano 105 Pedals and throwing on a 130mm Toupe. This weight also includes the reflectors on the bike. Mine came out to be 18.14 lbs for a 50cm.

For those of you who have older Cannondales could you please also submit them here
They were very helpful in identifying my 1995 Cannondale TT bike (r700)

I'm late getting in here. Here's my trusty '96 R400. Bought this in my first year of college, and have put probably 7,000 miles on it now. I know not a ton of miles overall, but plenty for me. I had the shifters rebuilt by some guy on eBay at the beginning of this season, and they almost lasted me through. Started giving me fits on my last ride again. I also upgraded whatever the stock wheels were from '96 this spring. Put some new ones on there with Mavic Open Sport sheels, and Shimano 105 hubs. Not the best, but they were "cheap" at just over $300 for the set. I also upgraded the chainrings from the 36/46 that came on it to 38/50. Mucho better overall gearing for me. Should've done this upgrade MUCH sooner! At any rate, here's the picture, I live in a condo, so no white garage door for me

I think I'm going to finally replace it this winter with a new CAAD9-1. Although I can't decide if I want to build it myself, or buy it complete. Not really digging the white tape/seat of the stock build, or the tektro brakes......Who knows where I'll end up though. Anyone have any thoughts?
