Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Drying Speed = wicking effeciency?

I've noticed some of my cycling clothes dry a lot faster than others and I was wondering if drying speed is a good indicator of a fabrics wicking efficiency. Does anyone know if there is a direct correlation?

I'm not sure what is the official definition of "wicking", but I think there are 2 issues in moisture management:
1. the jersey pulls the sweat away from your body quickly
2. sweat evaporates from it quickly so it continues to breath and doesn't get overloaded

Drying quickly is related to the second point. I think "wicking" is more related to the first point.

cotton is a good wicking fabric but it is terrible at drying. you want something that wicks then dries quickly.
