My record is three flats during a single group ride, maybe a 70 miler, many years ago. Most riders understand having to wait while you fix one flat, but patience grows thin when you're mooching your second spare tire!

I had 4 flats once... I called it the glass from H**L ride. I ended up calling for a taxi when I ran out of patches!

I had 3 flats once on a very hilly ride. It's tough when you're tire is slowly going flat and you don't know! Fixed the first and thought it was done. Then the second sneak flat! Then the third! By the time I fixed the third I was really exhausted from riding up the hills with an underinflated tire. One of the toughest rides I've done!

I had 2 once, but that was more my fault than bad luck. I was on some tires that were way past their prime.

Three halfway into a 60 mile ride. Used my spare tube and then patches. On the third flat I could not get any patches to seal, so I had to call my wife to pick me up. I will say that on the first two, the topeak road morph pump got the tires back to 120 psi very quickly. Great pump....but a bit on the large side.

Now I carry two spare tubes+patches, and I've switched to CO2 and a mini-pump incase everything else fails.

I've had two flats in a single ride twice in 20 years. And I ride almost daily. Which makes the odds (for me) of more than one flat in a ride about 2500 to 1.

Hmm my grand record is only 1. Had that happen on 3 different rides.

Only 1 flat, but it happened on 3 rides in a row. Turns out it had nothing to do with the tires, the rim tape on the front wheel had shifted so that just a fraction of an inch of spoke hole was exposed. The pisser was it was right after I got my new wheels, thankfully I didn't scratch the wheel. The last one was a heart thumper, it popped just as I was making a decent speed left turn with traffic coming at me, slide on the front wheel through the turn but didn't go down. I credit that to my mountain biking skills.

Turned out to be a burr in the rim not covered by a crappy plastic rim strip. After that i switch to Velox cloth strips exclusively and the only flats i get are the occasional punture or pinch flat.

I would guess that most folks, myself included, have only had the grief of one flat during a ride. This may sound like a bit of a stretch (however it is trus), I've only had three flats in the last 12,000 miles.

The thing that irritated me was that it was a new kevelar rear tire...blah, whatever...I've gotten more flats on that tire than any other

i had a situation where i had a very slow leak but no patches, dollar bills, or extra tubes with me. so i had to stop every 3-4 miles to pump up again. did that a bunch of times on the way back home. very annoying.

I know a guy who got a flat, called for his wife to come pick him up, and their truck got a flat on the way home. Bad day I guess.


Oh, I've only ever had one flat. I've had leaks that need continual pumping, but no multiple flats.

Most I can remember is 2. But one of those times it was a piece of steel belt from a car and the second time the tire went flat it took me at least 15 minuets to find it.

The first time I did the grand tour (200 mile ride) I passed a guy who needed a tube. He was on his third flat. I gave him one of mine. Hope his day got better.

I think 6 or 7, but it was far from normal conditions. I took my bike up to Mildura (~370 miles NW of Melbourne), and didn't know that most of the roads were covered in round, multi-spiked thorny thingies. I quickly ran out of patches, and there was 1 service station in the middle of nowhere that sold puncture kits.

On a normal ride, i think 3, but that was on bald tyres.

I had 2 flats at the same time on one ride a year or so ago. Noticed the rear flat so fixed that and packed back up and hopped back on the bike and then noticed the front flat. Both punctures from staples. Fortunately 55/Rad was there to help out. I'm not sure if he remembers that day. He kept probably thinking I'm never going to ride with this slow guy again......

Only one flat/ride so far. I'm starting to comtemplate centuries, though, so the chances of mutiple flats/ride should be a bit higher.

Orange County BikeForums group ride, I assume? I wasn't there, but I remember reading about it.

3 flats doing a 7 mile ride to a friends house!!!! I was new to LA and learned quickly that tuffy tire liners aren't optional on LA's glass-ridden streets.

I was riding with a group on Memorial Day weekend in Madison, WI a few years ago. It was cold (~40F)and raining and about half the group turned back after about 10 miles. I continued on with four others and one of the guys proceeded to get 3 flats in the next 10 miles! I froze each time we stopped for him to fix it. Why couldn't he flat next to a gas station so at least I could get some hot coffee

I got two flats this morning within 7 minutes of eachother. I finished my first interval and the rear flatted. I was half way through my second interval and the front flatted. I was 30min late getting home and man was my wife pissed! I forgot my cell phone and I told her that I'd be back no later than 7:30. She was running late for work and she thought I'd been hit by a car (she always thinks I'm going to be hit by a car...could be wishful thinking )

I lost count, but it was many, and I ended up riding home flat. I had something stuck in my tire that kept re-puncturing the tube, and I finally ran out of patches.

I ended up stuffing all my spare tubes inside the tire and re-mounting it. It was a rough ride, but the tire remained seated on the rim, and it got me home (at around 3-4 mph). Thank god I was within 3 miles from the end of my ride.

I threw the tire away immediately upon arriving home.
