Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

And here's pic from a deleted scene from Brokeback Mountain, deemed too heavy for mainstream audiences.

1) I've seen some extreme ways of making wheels lighter, but that's amazing!

2) The look on the face of the guy standing behind you is priceless! (And it looks like he copied Rad's moustache.)

It looks like you also inspired a certain young rider to try the "super-tall white Nike socks" look... his name was Lance.

Will you be in Lancaster again this year? There's a metric in Hershey the end of April - come out and play! https://www.active.com/event_detail.cfm?event_id=1288287

Beth
Hi Beth! By April, Jessica will have her new bike, and we'll be eager to get some rides under us. I'll check out that Metric you mentioned, thanks.

Me today at the local keirin track trying the 1000 metres. I 've realized my dream of some kind of world record isn't going to come in the way of a 1000 m Sprint. Yes it was very freekin cold.

Time shoes? 1991 frame. Retro???? Man, retro is a Campy NR frame equipped bike from like 1973 with toe clips and leather shoes with cleats, and a leather helmet.

I guess it's all in your individual perspective.

I have been doing this for a while. This was 1994 or 1995.

Check out those Time shoes. How retro is THAT?? The bike I'm riding is my 1991 Spectrum (merlin) Ti. The bike that CRACKED in two places a couple of years after this photo was taken. Oh well.

Hey Beth - how is central PA? End of April? I am there...maybe I can get the wife to do one of the rides too...know the course at all? Am I going to be able to tow my son on the trailer bike for half this thing or should I just bring the new bike.

I'm trying to talk Jess into the April ride. She doesn't think she'll be ready, but I'm hoping for a warm, dry March so we can get some base miles in. I'm down under 190 now, and my goal for April is 180. I was around 195 at last year's Lancaster ride, so the weight loss should help.

Hey Cydewaze,
You aren't fat, you're muscular, and, might I add, nice looking...

Don't worry, I live in California and won't be stalking you anytime soon. I just couldn't keep quiet with regard to the fat arse coment.
